Re-Tweet Beggars

⊆ February 9th, 2010 by Atniz | ˜ No Comments »

Back in 2007, I have never heard of Twitter. But, in just 2 years time, it became of the most talked social media network with fastest growing members. Of course, the difference between Facebook and Twitter is still huge in terms of active members. But, I can see Twitter slowly turning the industry to follow their steps. First, search engines and other major content based business start to use Twitter real time search engine. I have never heard of real time search engine before until it was first introduced by Twitter which followed by Google and other search giants. Re-tweets is another popular terms to share the same message to our followers. Re-tweet become famous and it is followed by Facebook with Facebook share counter.

Each marketer knows that Twitter is a shortcut to deliver huge traffic unlike other social network media. Each retweet can deliver hundreds of real targeted traffic to our site. Plus, I notice that Twitter referred traffic have the highest conversion rate compared to even search engine traffics. With increasing popularity and growing addictiveness within tweeters, it also draws more spammers to this network. I am sure you will receive at least some direct message which is automated every single day. New trend is to request for re-tweets. Of course, it is good to share some valuable information to our networks. Also, engaging positive tweeting activity will help us to get more retweets.

You can always ask your friends for retweets as they might be happy to do it. But, asking for retweet from a complete stranger with automated messages will make us look bad. It is simply asking someone to do a free job for us. This is the new trend of begging going on in Twitter now. If your content is good enough, they will find your tweets and retweet for you. I have completely ignored my direct messages as I receive few hundred DMs a day. Replying to autotwitter account makes us look like a loser. Writing good title and sharing great links will definitely help you get more retweets. If you are looking for retweets, start asking from your friends instead asking from a stranger. Get more real followers and engage with them by retweeting them.

SEO Link Development Strategies

⊆ February 7th, 2010 by Atniz | ˜ 9 Comments »

Link building is the most important part of search engine optimization (SEO) activity. Although, building excellent content is still remaining the King of SEO, back links will remain as a good companion to the King. Good number and quality of back links with combination of excellent content will strike out our blog in terms of traffic, page rank, backlinks, fans, etc. It is usually rare combination that followed by many bloggers or webmasters. Link building should done professionally in order to get the best benefit from it. We know that it is a tedious work that takes a lot of time researching the quality of those sites to get back link from. But, in terms of SEO, a good research and study needed before getting any back link from a site.

First of all, you need to ask yourself that are you going to follow 100% webmaster TOS set by Google, 50-50 or fully against their TOS. Setting out our way of link building is the most important idea in link development strategies. Each SEO professional have their own rules of link building strategy. You need to deliver your preference right in the beginning of the process. There are many webmasters don’t really bother about those TOS and go and purchase links with dofollow. They are safe until Google recognize their activity and start imposing penalties. In my view, you should follow strictly Google TOS in order to stay in the business for long term.

I am sure you wanted to create a good profile and stay in the business for long term. There are competitors who would deploy link building campaign strategies against Google TOS and gain good spot in short period of time. Remember, there are over 5,000 staff in Google working to create better algorithm to find those who go against their TOS and penalized them. Now, your competitor can submit a report to Google stating that you have involved in page rank flow link sales. Getting engage in link building strategies that is against Google TOS might be a shortcut to reach top spot but it also can crush our business when it is established. Choose a right method in your early link building campaign to avoid these types of penalties and negative effect on our business.

Twitter Deliver Good Conversion Traffic

⊆ February 6th, 2010 by Atniz | ˜ 14 Comments »

Many still don’t convince to use Twitter as part of their marketing tools for blog or website. As for this blog, I have seen Twitter have delivered good number of traffic which is better quality than any other traffic sources. Twitter delivered good amount of traffic that is interested in our product or services. You may write a good sales page with 140 letters including link to it. Those who interested in the topic will click and drop to your site. Some may retweet it and help you selling your product for free. In anyway, Twitter is a must tool for online marketing for your business.

I have been monitoring clicks on adverts in this blog and it looks weird to me as Twitter delivers high number of advert clicks. Although, Twitter is not my main source of traffic, it delivers the large portion of outgoing links from advert clicks shown on this blog. Even, search engine traffic has lower support for advert shown. Losers to Twitter will be, search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc), Entrecard, Stumbleupon, Digg, Digitalpoint forum, etc. This shows my major traffic referring sites that loses to Twitter conversion. Check you Google Analytics to monitor conversion rate closely on your blog or website as well.

It is time to build more friends, acquaintances, fans, etc through Twitter platform. The more communication you held in Twitter, the better conversion it can deliver. It is not the number of followers always deliver the best results. It is the involvement, replies, creating connection, bonds, etc that delivers the most out of our Twitter account. You can even get good amount of traffic referred from Traffic from hundreds of followers that keeps close communication with you rather than having an account with hundreds of thousands followers with zero communication. So, it is still not late to explore Twitter possibilities for your blog or website.

Blog Is Worth More Than Your Day Job

⊆ February 5th, 2010 by Atniz | ˜ 10 Comments »

It is a dream for everyone to have a blog that earns more than our day job income. I wish my blog to earn me six figure incomes annually to quit day job. Of course, this kind of wishes is a dream for everyone to work at their leisure time at home using just a blog. There are several probloggers who actually reached this status and it does take years for them to be where they are now. Years of continuous support and strong dedication towards blogging could lead to financial freedom. But, when we will know that our blog is worth more than our day job salary? It is when you are making blogging income more than your day job income. You don’t have to spend 8 to 10 hours a day in office to reach this income figure. All you need is to know a perfect of blogging and keep updating your blog every single day.

I don’t see any problogger’s blog have less than 10k indexed pages in Google or any other search engines. It shows, they have actually created 10,000+ unique pages or blogpost to reach problogger status. It is not something that can be reached within months or a year by any single man or women. It may take years of continuous update with quality contents. The more quality pages indexed, the better will be our organic traffic and backlinks. This will attract high profile advertisers that willing to pay thousands of dollars to get their services or product endorsed in your blog. When you are still new or average bloggers, the income generated from blogs could be lower than $100 or less. Of course, it looks big when you multiply it by 20 or 30, which means you manage a set of 20 to 30 blogs that earns you $100 each a month. But, it is not easy to manage so many blogs even if you are a full time blogger.

My advice is to concentrate on one single blog to reach four figures or more income monthly. This way, you will have more experience and knowledge to get a second successful blog in no time. The moment your blogging income continuous to grow and exceeded your day job salary, it is the time to consider going for full time blogging. Remember, quitting your day job is a big step. Make sure you have your strong savings, back up plans, strong income, diversified income, lower expenses, etc before taking your lifetime step. It is good to learn about some services apart from blogging and offer this service in your blog. Currently, I am having 150+ indexed pages in Google.com and plan to increase this number to 1,000 pages by end of this year. What are your goals to get your blog worth more than your day job?

Google Analytics Is Not A Factor In SERP Ranking

⊆ February 4th, 2010 by Atniz | ˜ 7 Comments »

Matt Cutts clearly declared that they don’t use any google analytics stats to their ranking factor in measuring SERP ranking in google search results. Components in Google analytics like bounce rate, average time per visit, pages visited per user, percentage of new visits, etc is not used in part of over 200 search ranking factor. He has taken a long video to post a short answer, “NO”. They don’t use it in any way in their search ranking of Google analytics. It was not confirmed by Matt Cutts in pubcon but it is now.

Question: Are stats from Analytics (bounce rate, time on site) a factor in a page’s or domain’s ranking?

Answer: There is a really short answer which I will give you in a minute, but I will tell you a little story first which is at PubCon a few years ago. Which is a WebmasterWorld’s conference, somebody said; “Do you use Google Analytics and in web spam?” And I said, “Not only we do not use it in web spam, I promise you my team will never go and ask the analytic’s team to use their data and helped through that problem. And I got asked this at the most recent pubcon and I was like “I know we don’t use it in web spam, I don’t know about all of search quality, I don’t think that we do. To my knowledge no one uses it. So, when I saw this question, I went ahead and I emailed the most senior, the most knowledgeable person who would know about this and I said; “We don’t use Google Analytics in our ranking in any way do we?” and the one word reply was “No”. So, there you go. Taken a long time to say relatively a short answer which is Google Analytics is not used in search quality in any way for our ranking.

Relevance Is Most Important Over Load Time And Content Update Frequency

⊆ February 3rd, 2010 by Atniz | ˜ 8 Comments »

This month, Matt Cutts have declared “relevancy” again is the most important factor in search engine ranking compared to “Load time” and “content update frequency”. It is known that Google starts to add load time as one of the factor in 200+ aspects involved in calculating SERP ranking. Also, it is known that Google loves blogs or websites that update their content regularly. In time, it can lead to top ranking for several high competition keywords if we constantly update our blog. Compared to these two aspects, “relevant” factor given the most importance.

Question: Since we’re hearing a lot of talk about the implication of Page Speed, I wonder if Google still cares as much about relevancy? Or are recentness and page load time more important?

Answer: Now, relevancy is the most important. If you have two sites that are equally relevant same backlinks, everything else is the same, you’d probably prefer the one that’s a little bit faster. So page speed can, in theory, be an interesting idea to try out for a factoring and scoring different websites. But absolutely, relevance is the primary component and we have over 200 signals in our scoring to try to return the most relevant, the most useful, the most accurate search results that we can find. So, that’s not going to change. Our philosophy will always try to be “Try to return the best to users.” Try to give them information about what they typed in. But if you can speed your site up, it’s really good for users as well as, potentially down the road, being good for search engines. So, it’s something that people within Google have thought about. Wouldn’t it be great if we could find a way where sites that are especially fast, or sites that are really, really, really bad experience for users. It would be only one of over 200 different factors, but still could be a small factor in saying, “Yeah, you know what? This person’s worked hard to deliver a really good user experience in addition to be in relevant.” So, let’s show that to users.

World Cancer Day 4th February 2010

⊆ February 3rd, 2010 by Atniz | ˜ 2 Comments »

Today is the declared as World’s Cancer Day as this year we will focus more on vaccines against viruses that cause cancer. My uncle just diagnosed from his cancer (luckily was early stage) from colon cancer. It was a few weeks ago and I believe it create some awareness among our close relatives and family members. Personally, I believe that cancer can be prevented. Based on the recent post from reuters: Experts says 40 percent of cancer can be prevented. With a small change in lifestyle like quit smoking, eating healthy food, reducing alcohol intake and sun exposure will drastically reduce cancer death cases.

International Union Against Cancer have declared this year’s campaign as “Cancer Can Be Prevented Too”. There are several topics given importance especially vaccines to prevent certain cancers like cervical and liver cancer from early stage in developed and developing nations. You can go directly to the campaign website at WorldCancerCampaign. Cancer is not a stranger anymore to most of us. At least one of our friends, family members, relatives, co-workers, neighbors, etc is a victim of cancer. It can get closer to us if we don’t take any step to fight cancer. Protect your children with vaccines and avoid even third party smoking environment.

Eating healthy, controlling healthy weight and exercising regularly could be a lifesaver in cancer pool. Don’t let yourself drowned in this growing disease that kills millions yearly. As a work from home mum, I find it difficult to allocate time for exercise regularly. I wish this campaign will create more awareness than last year. With the existence of Twitter, Facebook and other social media giants, I hope this campaign will create more awareness to the whole wide world. Let us spend at least one blogpost to World Cancer Day and create awareness to our readers. Let us create a big awareness buzz over cancer in Twitter and other social media.

Your Idol Is Your Strongest Competitor In Blogging

⊆ February 2nd, 2010 by Atniz | ˜ 13 Comments »

In blogging industry, you might not realize that your only idol is your strongest competitor. You might ask yourself is that even possible? Well, this is where most new bloggers don’t realize that their piece of cake (profit) is no more available. Let assume you wanted to start a blog today because you want to earn some steady online income with the goals like quitting day job and supplement your income with full time blogging. There are millions of blogs available online and each of them competes among each other to rank first in search ranking to get more organic traffic. The moment you create a blog and start posting contents, you are already in the war of blogs.

Personally, I have started blogging with the goal to learn about SEO and make money from blogging. But, almost all my topics are well covered in search engine results page by all my idols like Darren Rowse of Problogger, SeoMoz, JohnChow, etc. I wanted to be just like them to make good online income stream to supplement my online income. But, it is impossible to beat this top problogger’s post in all high to medium targeted keywords in search ranking. They may conquer in all small volume keywords too as their blog authority and domain age factor will help their post rank higher in SERP ranking for longer period of time. This gives incredible competition and we are fighting over our idols to compete for several keywords that are closely relevant to our blog.

I am sure it is impossible to reach top ranking for high volume keywords in search ranking for new blogs. This is where most bloggers made mistake too. Going after wrong set of keywords might get a different level competition. As a new blogger, I suggest go after long tail keywords (more than four words). It is easy to attract low competition visitors traffic using this method. Let’s say you manage to create 20 new posts on all low volume keywords which each keyword deliver an average of 100 visitors monthly. Assuming that you manage to get ranking on top 3 ranking on all 20 set of low competition keywords, you may draw 2,000 organic traffic each month. This will increase if you continue to follow the same step throughout your blogging activity. In order to reach high level like your idols, you need to start from smaller steps. For now, they are your strongest competitor.

January 2010 Blog Income $443.50

⊆ February 1st, 2010 by Atniz | ˜ 18 Comments »

I must say this is the best month in my blogging experience. Last month income was $194.44 and this month income is $443.50. There is about $250 increase from last month’s income. I didn’t share any of services income as most of it is still pending. I prefer to show only blogging income instead of special service income like dofollow blog commenting service or inbound link building service. Most of the income generated from link sales. I notice that each blogpost can be a money maker. If you able to rank your blog post to some important keyword, this will bring in more advertisers. They might be interested in getting a link from your existing older blogpost on monthly basis. This is still new way link building and only certain link builders practicing it. This month I manage to get minimum one blogpost a day which adds 31 new indexed pages in Google search engine. Lets get to the income and statistic of January 2010:

Stats for this month:
- 86,000 followers Twitter (10k new followers)
- 331 RSS readers (16 new RSS subscribers)
- Average unique visitors remained at 350 UV per day (earlier was 350UV per day)

Income for this month:
Reviews: $80.00
Text Link Ads: $200.00
Other Advertisement: $32.50
Hosting Affiliate: $50.00
SponsoredTweets: $81.00
Total: $443.50

I spend more time blogging this month compared to last month resulting to an increase of 128% compared to last month. If this trend continues, I would reach four figure income from blogging much sooner than end of the year. I hope next month’s blog income to be more than January 2010 total. For those bloggers who still on blogspot or other type of free TLD domains and hosting, I suggest you to get a private domain and have a contact page or email on your blog. This will draw many advertisers to your blog which will increase your monthly income too.
