Domain Name With Keyword Problems

Nobody wants to wait too long for their site to rank first page. This is the main reason why including keyword in domain name. A lot of SEO test claims that including keywords in domain name do help to increase SERP ranking quicker compared to non-keyword domains. This is a good reason for domainers to buy more domains with keywords in it for a good re-sell value. There are companies who are willing to pay five to six figure dollars to get a keyword included domain for their business even though the keyword added domains looks longer than branded type.

Most of the companies and business wants quicker results and prefer to get keyword added domains instead build trust for new brand domains. It’s like the owner gets faster return of investment (ROI) with keyword added domains compared to branded domain names. But, if you are doing your SEO good and consistently, even a brand domain name can get higher ranking compared to the keyword added domains. Keyword added domain also looks spammy compared to brand names. Google and other search engines may not impose any penalty on keyword added domain names now, but there are chances of getting keyword density penalty for those who have inserted the same keyword in title, description, meta keywords, contents and images well over 2% density.

Plus, keyword added domains will be unavailable as most domainers would grab a domain that have an average of 10,000 unique visitors average monthly search volume in Google Keyword External tool by now. The rates could be higher and simply not practical for a new business or trial websites for those who want to venture new business. Only those who are dead serious with this business are willing to purchase the domain at high price especially keyword added domains. There are some buyers who have bought domains with millions for some one word keyword domains.

Another problem with keyword added domain is that we have several top level domain (TLD) extensions. But, most of the buyers will hunt for dot com and will ignore the rest. How about .ws or .info or .co? You can still add keywords you wanted on some unique TLDs for cheap. Those who prefer to have keywords in domain should also prepare with competitors who uses the same keyword in the domain from other TLD. For example, you might own a seo.com but your competitor might get a seo.co to compete the same keyword without spending too much on the domain name. All you need to do is just wait for any new TLD introduced by domain sellers to grab your favourite keyword added domains.

If you are here for long term business, then I suggest go for branded domains. I believe most business owners wants to run a long term business and if that is the case, then we should believe in branded domains. It has been well debated over many top SEO blogs worldwide that start investing in brand rather than generic terms. Personally, I believe it too as we can see that in real-time evidence when Google starts penalizing sites using Exact Match Domain (EMD) and those sites without exact match keywords in domains gets rewarded.
