Web writing is very much different to the traditional content writing, and keywords are of paramount importance if there is need to drive traffic towards your content. Your goal as a web writer should be to aim high in search engine rankings, because most of the online traffic emanates from search engines.
As a beginner in web writing, the first thing that you will often do is get overwhelmed with terms such as; keywords, SEO (search engine optimization) and inbound links, however the importance of understanding these terms is that you will get more exposure for your articles online. Most writers however do not understand the techniques used in choosing the right keywords, their densities and where to place them.
You need to take your time in order to fully understand these techniques; there is no magic in ranking high within search engines. There are keyword generators that are available on the internet and these include Google AdWords, but however these may not be useful for you as your keywords need to be relevant to your content. It is best to think of the keywords that searchers will always type in search engines and thus use these keywords to boost your site’s visibility.
SEO Friendly Titles
In SEO it all starts with the title and it needs to be SEO friendly. The article title needs to have keywords that are relevant to the content that you are writing on. I.e. if you are going to write on a travel destination, people will need to know of its location and whether it is a place to have a good experience. You will need to make use of the right keywords to address your article or information. Good titles may include; the tourist’s guide, most beautiful place worth visiting, a tourist guide or rather other phrases that attract an individual’s attention.
Readers need to be told of what to expect in your content just by reading the title of your article. You need to be specific to avoid wasting time for people who are rather looking for something else. If you are going to write an article on marathon training, then you need to state in your topic whether it is information for beginners or advanced athletes. The beginners information is always much different from that of the advanced athletes. Likewise if you are writing an article on cooking eggs then you need to state whether they are boiled eggs or fried eggs. If you are very much specific in your titles then certainly your articles will be ranked high.
Your article needs to carry much facts as possible but at the same time being interesting to read. The length of your article is also important and the length of the article is normally influenced by what you are writing on, obviously you cannot write about fishing in just a 100 words, you would not have talked about other things that are important in fishing. A good article needs to be between 600 and 800 words depending on the topic but however an article should at least be above 400 words.
