Websitegrader is another great tool provided for free by Hubspot. They are well known in creating inbound marketing strategies. I used to be a subscriber of their blog where they will frequently talk about “inbound marketing”. Probably, then want to be the pioneer or leader in inbound marketing keyword. Anyway, websitegrader is a perfect tool that made it possible to get viral organic back links to their website. This is a perfect example of getting organic back links that will help our website to grow instead of buying or building back links.
Websitegrader allows you to compare upto 2 URLs at once but it doesn’t seem to be working. Because, when I tried inserting 2 URL (main URL and competing URL), I only get the results for main URL stats. They claim that over 50 different variables measured in getting the ranking grade range from 0-100. I tried Atniz.com and get 99/100 (I guess there is nothing much I need to do on SEO for now). There are over 3 million website have been ranked and Atniz.com is now ranked at 16k. I would say not bad for a 3 years old blog.
Under content section, websitegrader will scan for any blog installed in the domain. It will also detect last post date on this blog. They will show blog grade calculated from one of their internal tools measuring traffic and quality inbound links. I got 94/100 there for my blog scores. It will also show three recent posts by checking the inbound links and retweets each received. If you write good quality article or submit each of your post to social bookmarks and have several twitter accounts to retweet new posts on your blog will be a good start. It will also show Google indexed pages (Google.com TLD) and the readability level. The lower readability level is better in getting huge traffic to our site. So, target for primary or elementary grade readability level by providing your article in easy to understand ways.
Next is SEO optimization column where it will scrap meta title and meta description on main page. It will also count total headings found from H1-H6 in your domain. Having good keyword added headings is important in getting good ranking in SEO. It will also scan for images found on your website and separate images without ALT tag. Inserting ALT tags for each image on your website will increase image traffic referred from search engines. They will show three interior page analysis on meta title and meta description for each page. You can easily compare your permalink structure looks like in search engine. If you share same meta description for all pages, then it is time to edit this details according to each page.
Domain age is one of the ranking factors that will be scanned here. You will get red alert if your domain is set to expire in less than a year. Most spammers will have domains with less than a year expiry period. I am sure none of us want to fall in this list. With just $10/year domain renew rate, I would strong suggest renewing at least 5 years for your website domains which you are seriously working. This will give trust in search engine view for your website. Some search engine still considers http://atniz.com and http://www.atniz.com as two different sites. You should do a permanent 301 redirect to your preferred domain. By default, both domains will show your site.
MOZrank is similar to Page rank where it scales from 1-10 measuring back links strength and authority each domain receives. The higher your MOZrank is, the better you dominate ranking for any new contents get live on your website. They will also show last Google crawl date to your website. Writing daily on your blog will invite Google crawl your blog every single day. This will help your new contents to appear on search results almost immediately. Inbound links will be show too for the website. This is not the number dragged from Yahoo Siteexplorer. They have different back links count measurement than Yahoo or Google because my site’s backlink in Google webmaster shows 60k while in Yahoo siteexplorer shows 25k but in Websitegrader, it only shows 19k.
Next, websitegrader will measure the promoting ways in the grade. It will count number of del.icio.us bookmarks received for your domain. Link Tweet summary derived from Tweetmeme will be shown in the results. It will also find for relevant Twitter account that connected with your website and rank your Twitter profile using Twittergrader measuring number of followers, followings and tweets. You will get higher rank if you have good number of followers in your twitter account. Websitegrader will also find for conversion forms and RSS feed on your domain.
Finally, a brief traffic analysis will be show at the end of the page. Alexa ranking is not reliable in measuring traffic ranks. Websitegrader will not only show Alexa ranking but also Mozrank, number of indexed pages in Google, inbound links, blog grade, website grade and number of del.icio.us bookmarks. This is still not sufficient in measuring a website’s traffic. More elements like SEMRush, Compete ranking, Quantcast, etc should be included to monitor traffic analysis instead. So, what do you think about Websitegrader? Any good recommendations for them?
