Are you running a business that concentrate on specific location and wants to attract good viewers from online that can boost your business revenues? Well, you need to follow some simple steps given in this article to get the best out of online traffic to your website. First of all, you need to make up your mind that you are concentrating on specific targeted clients and not global. The method applies for geographical targeted search engine optimization (SEP) and global targeted SEO is totally different. So, if you have plans for expansion, I would suggest you to go for global instead of local.

Assuming that you are concentrating on local targeted traffic where you want people in your town aware of your business name when it comes to your niche. First of all, get a domain name that have local top level domain (TLD). For example, if you are targeting UK traffic, then get a domain name with businessname.co.uk; if you are targeting India traffic, then get a domain name with businessname.co.in, and so on. This will show search engine that you are specifically targeted your website to support this geographic location even without setting it in Google Webmaster panel.

Next, install Google Webmaster and claim your website and select your preferred country. With combination of local TLD and country selection in Google Webmaster, you are re-assuring your main target of visitors is from local and not from global to Google. I would also personally suggest installing Google Analytics to monitor your search traffic referred from which Google search engines and keywords. However, I would suggest you to install other tracking controls to your site as well to monitor your visitor’s location more specifically.

Now, the most important part in getting good ranking in local Google search engine; back links. You need to get backlinks from local TLD sites that are relevant to your website niche. Use your creativity to gather backlinks from trackbacks, local forums, local blogs, local websites, etc. You can sponsor templates to your local blogs or write a guest post on their blog. Engaging in forums and blogs that have main stream of traffic from local audience will be the best choice to get backlinks from. You can post a forum post or comment on blogs that have local TLD and relevant niche to your website. Try to get high quality and high relevance backlinks to your site.

Not forgetting the most basic needs like consistently updating your blog or website with relevant contents. You also need to do the basic onsite SEO with good meta tags, interlinking internal pages with proper anchored keywords, reducing number of outgoing links, removing any unrelated external links, removing duplicate contents, etc. Only with strong on site SEO, you will have easier path to reach higher ranking SERP ranking in local Google TLD with link building activity. With strong on site SEO, link building that targets local websites and blogs which are relevant and consistent unique relevant content updates, you are on your way to conquer your business in your town!
