Office 2010 is available now and it is costly. I was using Office 2007 upgraded from Office 2000 earlier. I must say that I’m a big supporter of Microsoft products mainly operation system (OS) and Office Suites. About 10-15 years ago, there are not many free tools available to do the job of Office tools. Nowadays, there are tons of free office tools available online. Open-source programs made it possible that small business owners don’t have to dig out plenty of money to buy Microsoft products. Alternatively, you can use Google Docs. I have been using this service for a week now and I must it is a perfect tool and a replacement for Microsoft Word.
I love the “See Revision History” function where it shows series of earlier saved contents under same file name. Personally, I have mistakenly press the save button which erases previous history contents in Microsoft Word. Tools like this enables us not to lose any content saved even by mistakes. Word count even shows number of characters with or without spaces. It is extremely useful for those who have character limitations on contents like Twitter, Meta tags, etc. I’m started to depend on Google products more compared to Windows these days. I wanted to try Chrome OS on new machine and will try to use a completely free software platforms provided by top companies like Google, Mozilla, etc.
However, there are still one reason why I still use Microsoft office; it is Excel. I still couldn’t find a better replacement. Only if Google have something like Google Docs that replaces Microsoft Word for Microsoft Excel, I will completely dump Microsoft Office software from my computer and laptop. There are a lot of speculations saying that Google is another Microsoft but I don’t agree much on it. Most Microsoft products are expensive and most Google products are free. There are huge difference in between. Have you used Google Docs before? What is your personal review about this product?
I’m a big fan of the Microsoft’s products like you. I remember that i have got Ms Office 97 for my first computer. I haven’t had any idea to use Google Docs before, now i think i should give it a try.
In exchange for microsoft office, I use Open Office which almost as quality as microsoft office.
