Are you prepared for the new sickness that soon to hit the world in June till July? It is World Cup 2010 South Africa season. I know, many of you can’t wait until the date of the first match begins. I was used to be a big fan of soccer too and never missed watching World Cup since 1996. The TV is belongs to football matches during this season. All other programs will be viewed during commercial or whenever no match. Most of the restaurants, coffee shops will be packed with viewers supporting their favorite teams. I am sure this is going to be a big time waster for many of us. I have friends who lost their job due to world cup too. He was a family member who was a Vice President of a public listed company. He couldn’t control his support towards football and watch most of the games at home. He lacks in attending office and meetings for the whole month. The company have given him a firing note that causes him a car and six figure salary.
This could happen to any of us. Remember, work comes first, then the entertainment. Soccer games can be considered as secondary need compared to work. Attending work and showing the commitment towards work is extremely important. Don’t let the late night match drive you lazy to go to work or perform weaker than your competitor. I know it is extremely addictive to watch world cup match. You can always make use of recordings to watch late night games whenever you are free. During weekends or holidays, you are free to attend any viewing gatherings. In any way possible that does not effect our work. I do not want my rice bowl sacrificed for a month long football games that happens every four years once.
Having a family is a commitment. Before, sacrificing anything for the match or get-together party to watch sports match with your acquaintance, make sure it is not affecting the family bond or day job. Most guys does not want to be disturbed during match. They will be glued to the TV during any important matches. I guess, housewife like us can give a month freedom to the guys. Just a month until the world cup fever goes. After all, it is a worldwide fever. No one can escape from it.
