The more we use Internet, the more addicted it gets. There are more programs that knows exactly how to retain us to use it for a long period of time. Either gaming, facebooking, twittering, youtubing, etc; there are always something new to look at. This is the new medium of addiction that slowly consuming all of us. Most of our time spend online. We talk less to people around us. The need to have higher speed of Internet connection grows as the famous programs consumes huge bandwidth. Some countries even claims Google to pay compensation to their ISPs as most of their bandwidth usage goes to Youtube. Just about 10-15 years ago, no one would have ever heard about going online. Computers are meant to do some complex calculations and help us document files. Thanks to Google, our new class dominator and Facebook; that earns money from our privacy exploitations and our content inputs.

Socializing through Internet is not new. I used to chat in mIRC in 1997 using my first computer (Pentium 166 processor) and played Diablo game. Personally, I don’t know what to do with the computer at that time. Thanks to the sales person who introduces these two applications that is famous at that time. I used to spend about 10 hours a day on computer, either playing Diablo game or chatting. The basic trend of playing game and socializing doesn’t change until now. Just that the platform have been changed and improved. There are more games and advanced social networking sites available now compared to 10 years ago. Not to mention porn and gambling sites which consumes more than half of Internet contents that caters gambling and sex addicts. Today’s youth spends more time playing online games or network games. Frankly, I have never thought Internet addiction would go this far. I wonder how it will be in next 10 years from now.
