Recently, I received mail from my clients that used hotmail asking for help. The message goes as below:
I’m caught up in a real mess and i need your help. I’m sorry I didn’t inform you about my trip,I had a trip to (Buckinghamshire) and a bizarre thing happened to me.I was mugged at gun point last night, it happened at the park of the Hotel were i lodged but thank God i wasn’t hurt, the muggers carted away with all my belongings excluded my passport. Cell,c-card,cash and some important documents are all gone. I was able to make contact with the Police and i was directed to the Embassy, but they seems to be taking things too slow.
I need your help so urgently.. My flight leaves pretty soon but i am having problems sorting out the hotel bills and also need getting my ticket straightened out. I need your help. I need a quick loan to get things fixed out here, I promise to refund as soon as i get back home.. please reply asap. so i can tell you what to do and how to get the money to me..
Hope to read from you soon..
At first, I thought it is real because it sounds desperate and it uses my client email id with the signature name as the name of my client. I was about to contact him, just minutes after this mail arrived, I got another mail from this client saying that his email have been hijacked. I feel bad for him as someone misuse his account for quick cash and creating bad reputation. He uses hotmail free email account. After another two days, I receive the same type of email from one of my bloggers friend who have gmail account as below:
Dear
How are you doing? Hope all is well with you and family, I know this might be a surprise to you but I am sorry I didn’t inform you about my traveling to England for a Seminar.
I need a favor from you as I’ve misplaced my wallet on my way to the hotel where my money, and other valuable things were kept and I will like you to assist me with an urgent loan of $2,600= £1,500 to sort-out my hotel bills and get myself back home.
I will appreciate whatever you can afford to help me with and I promise to pay you back as soon as I return home.
Best Regards
I am sure her account also got hacked but I don’t receive any notification from her either. All this while, I thought Google is the best platform that can’t be hacked until today. It happened to one of my close friends who have common hotmail and gmail email accounts. Anyone use this email can be a victim too. So, please make sure to install proper antivirus that updates frequently and have a spyware installed. Getting free antivirus and antimalware program that is free and up-to-date is important to keep our accounts not hacked. Also, take pre-caution steps that may lead to hacking. Don’t download and install or execute files from unknown sources. Stay active and keep safe surfing.

I may just that their password is knew by others.
