Recently, Matt Cutts also have stressed relevant as one of the most important part from over 200 factors in search engine optimization (SEO) algorithm. Now, we know that search engine gives relevancy more importance in terms content, backlinks and other SEO factors. First of all, why would they give more importance to relevant factor?
1. Reduce Spam
Google spam team head Matt Cutts keep pushing relevant factor higher and higher recently in most of his webmaster help videos. Probably, this is the best thing for him to reduce spam. This may lead link builders to concentrate more on relevant links instead harvesting links from unrelated sites. Logically, this will reduce spam and it will if our spammers ever listen to him. Some even call him Darth Vader, and ask us can we really believe in what Matt Cutts says. Personally, I can see Google will keep pressing relevant factor to reduce spam and workload on Matt Cutts team.
2. Deliver Relevant Results
Search engines keep getting sophisticated with tons of refine factors to provide the most accurate search results to the users. The more relevant information shown for the searchers, the better search engines will get credit. Basically, search engines targeting huge traffic to use their search engine. Providing best results with accurate relevancy will get the users addicted to the system. This traffic is the key for survival for search business where advertisement, PPC, SEO, contents, etc works. So, search engine will do their best to provide best relevant content to any search.
3. Stay In Search Business
You might have heard so many search engines introduced and falls back to closure. It is not easy to go head to head with other dominant search giants like Google, Yahoo and Bing. They keep getting new contents and refine their search algorithm to show the most relevant results to users. If you want to stay in search business, the only key the users. Keep showing best results to the users on all their searches. This gives heavy importance towards relevant issues. So, search engines should focus on relevant contents in order to stay in search business. Failing to do so, they will have the risk of losing loyal users.
Search engines worry that they might lose traffic or out of business if they show irrelevant results to the users. These giants have more reason to give importance on relevant factor compared to any other factors involved in over 200+ factors of SEO. Two days I ago I was researching a particular topic in Google, I was disappointed as I have only accessed few sources of what I’m searching. I opted for Yahoo and it didn’t help, then I went to Bing. I had used Bing for a few times and honestly, I was not a fan until that day. I was surprise that among the three search giants, Bing had given me several related results. I guess that gives us a glimpse of what Google is being afraid of that’s why they are taking huge steps to improve their SERPs
