Firstly, blogs with consistent updates tend to get at least PR3. This is based on my personal experience. I have never done any logic link exchanges or link building for one of my blog and able to get PR3 by just writing a blog post a day. Please don’t scrap articles or copy paste articles from other sources as Google might give penalty instead of pagerank. Getting unique contents is important to get basic page rank where you can get google love in SERP ranking and possible organic backlinks creation. Writing more unique contents will indirectly help you to get good page rank and good SERP ranking in long run. So, content must be your first goal before heading to backlinks.

Now, you need to get some quick high PR backlinks. Remember, only dofollow links will increase your page rank. You can get number of dofollow links from dofollow article directories, dofollow social bookmarking, dofollow blog commenting, dofollow directory submission, dofollow link exchanges, etc. Any link building method that you do, make sure it is dofollow and relevant to your niche. Relevancy helps in SERP ranking but getting quality high PR backlinks will certainly increase our page rank. Engage in link building strategies that can deliver dofollow links from high PR pages. With these two techniques, you can increase page rank within first Google PR update.

  1. Hi,
Just wanna know which one should be on top of the list to increase PR, posting regularly or commenting on others blogs/sites?

  2. Link building and article marketing are two effective ways to reach the target market

In the past, I have been active with link building. However, recently it seems that the search engines are a lot smarter. Now, they can find out more about which links you have that aren’t natural. Therefore, it isn’t good to be a link hound at all, anymore.

It is much better to write quality content and build your readership. The more popular you become the more likely it is that people will link to you naturally.

So, it is my opinion that one should focus on their websites on-page SEO and writing content. I think you’ll come out much better in the end.

That is one way to get backlinks. However, there are many bloggers and business owners that are so active and have a lot of time tend to engage in various link building activity to increase their popularity much faster than waiting for organic back links. I guess, those who worked hard will see the benefits too.

I believe that you still can build links manually. However, one must have a good mixture of them to look natural.

I just prefer to let them happen more naturally. This is because my blog is almost two years old. If I were to look for links, I would go for sites that are related, well established, lots of traffic, authority sites.

It is better to have quality backlinks than thousands of low quality backlinks. I have seen sites with PR5′s and PR6′s with just 30 to 50 backlinks.

It’s true. There are some sites with even lower than 100 backlinks able to rank higher in SERP ranking compared to those who have more than 30k backlinks. The quality always wins the race when it comes to SEO.

  4. I totally agree with this. I handled a new blog 2 months ago. My only task is to update the blog with unique content every 3 days. I only have 2 Google backlinks, but after the update, my pagerank went to 2 from 0. Now, I’m updating it every 2 days.

    @ Don,

I used to work for a company that sold products over the internet. We used press releases from PR Newswire which is one of the better and more expensive methods for disseminating PRs. Depending on the options that you select, each press release can cost $750-$1000 U.S.

In my experience, these were very ineffective even two years ago at generating page rank or traffic. Our PRs got picked up by major sites like Forbes, etc. Pretty much all of these sites don’t pass page rank with these releases.

Now, I think Google would filter links from duplicate articles, so they are probably even worse.

Over the past three years, I’ve seen SEO change quite significantly.

Three years ago, you could write an article and submit it to Ezine articles, Buzzle, or one of the free article submission sites. The article would get picked up by 40 other sites and you would get a ton of backlinks. Now with duplicate content issues, article marketing is pretty much dead.

Sites don’t want to re-post duplicate content and even if the article did get picked up, the links won’t count. In short, I think article marketing is pretty much dead for generating page rank.

Even the link that you get from the article submission site itself probably has been flagged by Google and doesn’t pass page rank even if it is do-follow.

A Press Release can also result in backlinks to new blogs helping them gain traction with PR.

  8. I also experienced that number of post is matter to gain the PR.
