I am dedicatedly dropping 300 cards a day for this blog on Entrecard for few months now. It takes nearly an hour a day to complete entrecard drops daily. Plus, I am advertising on this network with 2k-3k EC per day. Traffic referred from dropping activity gets me about 80-100 unique visitors (UV) a day. Traffic referred from adn.entrecard.com (advertising platform), gets me another 50-70 UV per day. That is a total of 130-170 UV per day from Entrecard. But, I am getting cards dropped in my inbox much higher than this number, usually around 240-270 cards a day. Possible, some entrecarders have more than one blog on this network and actively dropping for 2 or more blogs, which means they might be dropping 600+ entrecards daily. I used to drop 300×6 blogs, equivalent to 1,800 entrecards a day and gave up within 2-3 months time.
Entrecard is not the only world. It was a wakeup call for me to give up dropping 1500+ cards a day and concentrate on one blog only, which is dropping 300 cards a day. It makes me to give up on other 5 blogs that I have been managing with consistent content updates. Entrecard is like a gifted program for new bloggers who is seeking traffic. I used to get 50-100 visitors a day before joining this network 2 years ago. Of course, the traffic referred from Entrecard network slows down recently. Currently, the top user on Entrecard receives 350-450 visitors daily. I used to get about 500+ drops a day and ranked top 5 blogs on Entrecard earlier. Not many active droppers in Entrecard these days compared to two years ago. If you are an older member, you would have notice this.
Although, the traffic referred from Entrecard and Google are still similar (100-150 UV per day), I still couldn’t find a reason to leave this network. There are 100s of blogs giving me back link for being their “Top Dropper” or “Recent Dropper” and is part of my Entrecard SEO. Some are aggressively returning my drops every single day. If the active numbers drops below 100UV per day, I would give up Entrecard totally. We could not engage in forums, blogs, etc to attract organic traffic from Entrecard. I used to argue with many entrecarders in Entrecard forums and Entrecard blog earlier which delivers some extra traffic. But, now everything is gone. There are some members still active believe in Entrecard that it would be better place. So how long are you going to drop 300 cards a day for your blog? I am 2 years now and still dropping like a zombie each day. Are there any other zombies like me?

Hey – It’s been a long time since I commented, but I wanted to throw my two cents in. I was going to just keep quiet, but I can’t. I consider you a blogging friend and I enjoy reading your blog – so when I notice a reason why people (or I) stop participating in EC, I feel you should know.
I’m sure you’re aware of the mess Cornyman (Martin) caused on his blog. He accused many bloggers of “ghost dropping”, including me. (Keep in mind I don’t even know enough about EC to cheat the system…I don’t even really participate in EC, other than to drop when I can – I don’t know about all the politics, etc.)
Ever since I was alerted to him accusing me of that, I’ve lost my taste for EC. It’s happened in the past, also – with paid ads and other issues that have gone on with EC. However, I’ve continued to drop on the blogs I like, as often as I can, because…well, I *like* them. I haven’t done 300 drops in the longest time and it’s simply because I don’t have the time. I’m not someone who will visit a blog just to drop – I actually stay around and read the content. It was taking me about 4 hours to drop 300 cards. Finding out someone accused me of ghost dropping REALLY made me mad – especially since he didn’t have the good sense (or common courtesy) to just ask me about it. The fact he ASSUMED, then hung me out to dry – along with a few other bloggers I know don’t “ghost drop” because they leave comments on my blog – really did it. I don’t leave crummy comments – I only leave a comment when I have something to add to the discussion.
EC has been a great way for me to boost traffic to my blog. I feel badly that I can’t always drop on those who’ve dropped on me – especially with the same frequency some drop. I can’t help it, though – I’m a single mom of 3, my oldest is really struggling with mental health issues right now, my stepdad is in end-stage inoperable lung cancer and is in and out of the hospital constantly, I have extra kids over here all the time, I have chronic health issues, I try to work on my art, try to work part time, and try to support my kids – since I have no outside help. It ain’t easy. Therefore, I participate in EC because I WANT to…not because I have to.
I used to be a consistently frequent dropper – and I used to worry about getting in my 300 cards every day. I just cannot do it anymore – and my motivation went out the window with those accusations.
After I got over my hurt feelings, I made a decision. I’m leaving EC. It’s been good to me, but I’ve also been good to it, but like all things, it has come to an end. A lot of blogs I enjoy are no longer a part of the network for whatever reason, and I find that I visit the blogs I like…and usually forget to drop on them, even tho I’ve been there. I would much rather continue to visit the blogs I like than be forced to “drop and run”.
I hope that makes sense – and I’m sorry it’s so long. I felt like you should know why some aren’t participating like they/we used to. Altho Cornyman removed the original accusations, I will not forget it. I’ve always been very nice to him, even though is blog is full of hot air. I’ve never concerned myself with EC politics…and now that I’ve said my piece, I’ll let you go. I’ll continue to drop by – but it definitely won’t be due to EC. The program has changed too much and I feel it’s misguided now.
I still love you and your blog, tho! xx
Dropping 300 per day (that is if you only have one blog) is tedious and will really make you a “zombie” but that’s how it is in Entrecard to keep up with your blog.
I do my best to drop 300 every day though there are times that I would miss out. Surprisingly, my blog reached the top 5 most popular list in all categories and come to think of it I am only using Entrecard as an advertising network and nothing else. That’s really something for me.
On another note, it doesn’t mean you are on the top, you have good quality contents and you drive good referrals to other blogs. I’ve checked the top 15 most popular in EC and not everyone in the list has provided quality information and not all as well have given me good number of clicks when I advertised on them. Well, it’s really nothing personal. I am just sharing my experience with EC.
Great post you have here!
Yeah. I can still vividly recall when you were there at the top. You even placed a comment at my blog and said we should have a TOP 20 Club when I made it to the TOP 20 MOst popular blogs
Indeed, we used to get 500 and more drops each day. But now, I can’t seem to get that figure. Just like you, I am sticking a while longer with EC. I am not too particular with the stats and figures. I don’t blog for the numbers. EC is the easiest means I know that could connect me with great blogs and wonderful people.
wow, I have two sites on Entrecard and I’m lucky if I drop 30 each.
Just don’t have the time.
Good job.
I agree with the amazingly beautiful Shelia and equally stunning Reena. I also hope for positive changes as far as system speed and reliability. Also not liking some of the ads rotated on the widget. But I am also at the 2 year mark. But I only drop about 100 a day. I have also gone through 2 mice thanks to all the clicking.
I also got to thinking how long I will be dropping cards (though I don’t reach 300 a day). For a new blog, Entrecard is a good option for free advertising. However, one will come to realize that increasing traffic to one’s site has to be a function of content, rather than a return of favor. But I still do the dropping because it’s still fun to check on new blogs and get to help them get some traffic as well. But there is no compulsion to do so on a daily basis (though I have been consistently dropping a hundred cards per day lately).
I’ve got to admit I’m a zombie dropper also – almost 2 years now. Drops have really – drops have really gone down lately and I don’t know how much longer I’ll stay. But, every time I think about leaving I talk myself into staying – I guess I keep hoping things will change around here.
When I was still with Entrecard I also used to drop 300 cards a day. But I already left last February 20, 2010. Before I left, my blog was on the Top 2 most popular blog in all categories. I was receiving 350-400 visitors thru EC daily, but my Google analytics could only track an average of 200 daily.
I left because of three reasons, 1. EC has now very low quality traffic, 2. Still a chaotic virtual economy where the credits are becoming worthless due to uncontrolled inflation, and 3. virus and trojans on some sites, which had infected my laptop and PC.
thank god somebody confessed first. i’m a-droppin’ them 300 cards everyday and this is the 25th day now, but that’s nothing compared to your years!!! i’m amazed!
the traffic of my site is largely attributed to entrecard: advertisements, campaign page of entrecard, and even inboxes of entrecard members.
i like the term zombie, it feels so apt. so yeah, here i am, another zombie.
high five!
LOL!! Me me I am a zombie…. started off with 600 a day, which u prob already know… and then I decided to open a third blog… so I try my best to drop 900 daily….yowzaaa!
