Blogging is already a trend to make extra money online for many bloggers worldwide. Most of the bloggers are work from home mums. However, not all mums are aware on some of the key points that will add more value to their blog. Of course, not many will find the time or interest to study more about simple search engine optimization tips or current advertising trend. I have collected set of 10 important points that each blogger should follow strictly in order to get more value from their blog. Are you still getting $5 per post? 1. Keep To Your Niche
If you likes to write about coffee, make sure all your blogpost is related to coffee. Don’t jump niche and write about politics, or any other trending topic instead. Keeping your content highly relevant to your main niche is the most important point. By doing this in long run, you will add more value to “coffee” niche and you may attract “coffee” niche advertisers from small to large corporation. Mix bag often don’t get high value in any niche and will keep their rate or value for all niche at average level. This makes an active blogger to limit their earning at $5-$10 per post or links.

2. Get A Domain
Instead of using free domain services like .blogspot.com, .wordpress.com, .co.cc, etc for your blog, try getting some unique domain name from .com or .net or .org and host it under private hosting service. Nowadays, you can get cheap hosting and reliable service at lower than $2 a month with free domain. Private domain stands a better chance of getting more advertisers comparing to free blogspot blogs. Most advertisers prefer to get unique domain backlinks as it will give them better results in SEO point of view.

3. Keep Posting
Blogs that posting frequently tend to get higher ranking in Google. Google loves blogs that is frequently update their contents. Blogs with lack of updates gets lower bots crawling and lower ranking in SERP. Internet industry is about contents and you need to add more contents to make your blog shine. The more unique content you provide, the better your chance to get good ranking and traffic which will attract more visitors. Make sure not to duplicate any contents as Google may impose penalty on your blog.

4. Socialize
Blogging is not just about writing contents. You need to engage in social media and bookmarking tools. This will give better exposure to your blog and it will earn some traffic too. Today’s Internet industry is conquered by social media like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc. It is not wise to wait for search engine to deliver you traffic. Create your profile in top social networking sites and start building friends and fans. It will eventually draw more traffic to our blog. More traffic equals to more money.

5. Appearance
If you are not happy with your current blog theme or template, change it. There are tons of free wordpress blog templates available online with few credit links in footer. Allocate more space for advertising spots like 125×125 or other size banner, text link ads, reviews, etc. Make sure you provide contact page or email for your advertisers to contact you. This is the common mistake done by many bloggers.

Keep following above method and you will notice your Alexa, page rank, compete, etc ranking increase in time. You may not earn much money for first few months or a year. But, you will notice an increase in your earnings slowly after almost a year or more. Domain age plays important factor in backlinks too. So, if you can manage a blog for 5 years now. You should be able to earn more than what you have earned first or second year of blogging. Remember, blogging is an investment as you can always sell the domain or blog to any company for a lump sum of money. Or, you may enjoy earning monthly income from it.
