It is dream for all blog owners to get re-tweet like what Mashable gets. Having Tweetmeme button definitely is a must to count number of re-tweets we get. Of course, it does not count out URL shortener compared to the one URL that used in original tweets. In real, the numbers can more than displayed. But, showing Tweetmeme button on our blog that shows number of re-tweets count increases load time. It is up to you to display this button or not, but showing this button certainly increases number of retweets. You may want to look for other section to reduce load time instead tweetmeme if you are looking for more retweets. Let’s get down to the list of ways to get more retweets for our blogpost.

1. Get more followers
This is most important point to get more retweets. The more people follow you, the better your tweets goes viral and chances to get retweets is on higher side. Twitter accounts like Mashable with millions of followers always gets thousands of retweets for new blogpost. Of course, the ratio between number of followers and retweets always gives better answer.

2. Retweet other’s blogpost
In order to get our blogpost retweeted, we need to retweet others too. It is a win-win situation where you are motivating others to retweet your blogpost. This is not a guaranteed way to increase retweet but it will definitely help you to increase number of RT in future with new accounts.

3. Tweetmeme
Having this widget on your blogpost with the counts of retweets does help to get more retweets. It also allows easy re-tweet process like URL shortening, RT, @username, and title. One of my static page still get retweet until today. It is also enables you to enter super retweet contest. Who knows, you might win some prizes from Tweetmeme.

4. Reply your mentions and give a bonus RT to their recent blogpost
Whenever you get a new mention, it is not necessary the type that needs a reply. We can always give a re-tweet to their latest blogpost in return. I am sure it will help you get more friends that will retweet your tweets.

5. Get new friends and engage communication with them
Communicate with your new followers closely. Help them answer or reply to their new tweets. This will keep them monitor closely all your tweets and increases the chance to get retweets. However, this is a little hard if you are getting hundreds or thousands of new followers a day.

6. Have Outstanding / Controversial / Question like post title
Blogpost title often plays a major role to get more retweets. It is similar to other social media platform like Digg, Stumbleupon, etc. Controversial or breaking news type of post tends to get more retweets within short period of time. Usually, titles like “100 Top Lingerie Model in The World” will get more attention.

7. Ask for Retweet from your friends
You can personally request for retweet from your friends via mention or direct messages. You can do this with those who are close to you in Twitter. If you trying your to get one single page to go viral in Twitter, you can use this method. Make sure in return you do some retweet for them too.

Above are some of the steps that get more retweets. Increase number of re-tweets for all your blog post. This will only bring more traffic which means money if your blog monetize it well enough.
