Most Important Location In Link Building

Topics: Link Building

A website or blog have similar page structure. Header, body or known as content section, sidebars and footer. Usually, header section explains contains title and small description of a particular page. It is rare to find any links on header section. Header section gives the summary about the whole page. Sidebars can be either on left or right of the blog. It is common to find blogs with one to three sidebars in latest blog themes. Banners, advertisements, blogrolls, and some other cool widget will be placed here. Footer section often gives credit to the theme developer and programmer or those who manage the blog. Finally, the content section where visitors will get the information and contents about topic discussed. Each section of our blog plays an important role in links, titles, banners, advertisements, associates, etc.

Today, I am going to talk about about the most important section to get a backlink from. Which section will distribute utmost quality to our backlinks? Is it header, footer, sidebar or content section? I strongly believe that content section delivers the highest level of quality to our backlinks. A backlink that is surrounded with important keywords in content section gives a better view. Of course, I am talking about relevant contents here. Let’s say you got a “Pet perfume” website and someone have written a review about your services (could be your client that is extremely happy with your services) in their pet related blog. The content will be related to pets and a link to your site in-content section will definitely give a boost to your backlink power.

Plus, visitors who have been referred from search engines to that particular page or blog post will most likely checks out your website as it is strongly suggested by the author. That is the reason why most bloggers insert google advertisement in-between content section. It will get more clicks-through compared to sidebar, footer or header section. Content section backlink from high authority or quality page is better than backlinks from sidebar or footer. If your link building campaign is not fruitful yet, give this method a try. You can request for guest post, blog post exchange, or paid post. As long as you can get a link from content section from related sites, it will certainly help you to increase SERP ranking.

Content is always the king.perhaps your view is correct. But well structure header + content would be perfect match, right?

Well structure of header and content will be a perfect match. But, having an external link in header location might make our article look spammy.

  2. It makes sense, but getting links from inside content is also more difficult. You should have either very nice site in order to be linked or by doing paid-post

I couldn’t agree more. Content links are the best kind of link there is.

ME too, I think it is best to put the link in the header section for it is the first to read by the machine. But I also consider that putting a link with header is such an clutter to your website maybe you can use some div or CSS attribute to place your keyword on the head while placing the output where ever you want. This technique I’ve learned from my meister, just send a regards^_^

Having a link in header section to external site is excellent for the site receiving link but look bad on the site that giving the link. If you are a visitor and you see the title and related content below are relevant. But, the title links you to other page. Wouldn’t it look so spammy? In my opinion, Header tag is meant for title and it should play its role.

Page structure is really important. I believe content section is more valuable than say a footer or sidebar.

  6. Oh, i just aware of it. I always think that the best link position is in header.

    • Atniz says:

Header is meant for title. Most SEO have misuse this section and give a link in header section. H1 tag should not have a link unless it is to the internal pages. If it is to external, it will definitely look like spamming.

That is a bunch of words of wisdom, dear Atniz. :) I guess we only have to be careful with either writing or ordering paid posts, because of these FTC regulations involving fees for endorsing a sponsor.

I have gotten a feeling lately, that every little step one takes to improve a site rankings or even just to get more known between web users gets seen with a suspicious look from SE bosses and other institutions. Spamming is one thing, but dictating is another. I hope they won’t loose the measure of the ‘weight’ some actions can bring to, like killing good part of web marketing and for stay-at-home workers to get either penalized or ‘fired’. Sorry, this bit of the comment was half rant-ish, but I’m sure you get my point here. Actually, you’re one of the few people whom I can talk more freely to about these things.

We are all under One big tree of life.. that is Google. I don’t see any possible success of FTC alone, but if Google plans to join in this move, then we all need to follow. But, for now I guess FTC regulations towards non declared paid post penalties will not have a big impact. I don’t know why the Government pushing work at home mums and dads that makes small number of income just to keep paying bills and support the family. They should at least open up more opportunities instead of imposing new rules and penalties.
