It is a lot easier to work on SEO for contents compared to image and videos. I’m sure you will find many sites that provide excellent SEO tips for videos. Here is the list of steps that you can follow to make your video search engine friendly.
1. Meta Tags
Google and Yahoo ignores meta keyword but meta description, title, etc still helps. Bing and other search engines still use meta keyword tag. Although, it may not helpful in ranking but it gives clearer picture for viewers to click on your video. So, having a good meta tags like title, description, keywords, date and author will add more value to your video.
2. Naming
Video file name should include all the important keywords and the word “video” in it.
3. Permalinks
Name your video page uniquely with relevant keyphrases in the title and it must be appeared in the permalink URL. Try to have one video file for each page. If you can give link to other related videos with good contextual link, it will certainly help too.
4. Relevant Links
If you post your video on a page or blog post, try to write a simple article that includes important keywords. Also, give a link to related articles and videos using proper contextual links (hyperlinked keywords/keyphrases).
5. Embed Your Video
Don’t give link to the video instead embed the video in your post or page. If you are a visitor referred to the video, you want to see the video directly on the page instead referred to other sites that may have risk of having registration, pop ups, etc.
6. Videos Category
Create a separate category in your website or blog for videos and link all your videos posted on your website or blog in this tag or category. There are some users prefer to view and listen to video instead of reading articles. Making it easier for them to find your videos can help your videos to get more views.
7. Enable Comments
Allow users and viewers to comment on your video. You can set number of comments shown per page. This keeps your video as a debatable and gets more attention.
8. Multiple Formats
There are some users may not have correct plugin to play your video. Of course, we are not talking about youtube videos here. Downloadable videos with various format option like .mp4, .flv, .mov, etc will be more helpful.
9. Social Bookmarking
Include social bookmarking icons or tools such as Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, etc. Also have an option to email or share with friends. This allows your video to go viral with social networking traffics.

Nice tips, Atniz! May I add, you should provide a catchy thumbnail for your video. This usually lures viewers thus gaining popularity and higher views. Usually higher views ranks well compared to lesser volume of viewers.

I think the best thing you can do is wrap text around your video to contextualize it for the search engines!
