How Many Backlinks to Create a Day
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. You can also follow me on Twitter. Thanks for visiting!
It is a common question that many will ask when it comes to link building campaign. So, how many backlinks is good enough for a link building campaign? I would say it is depending on your ability and as long as it is not automated. If you can build 50 or 100 backlinks a day consistently, you still won’t be marked as link farm site. Basically, backlinks are something that we can’t control. We can’t stop people from giving a backlink to our website, right? Anyway, many would still think 50 new links a day does not look organic and may raise google red flag. Personally, I have tried building 100-200 new backlinks a day from blog commenting and never raised any spam alert from any search engines.
Getting backlinks should not be made automatic. There is hundreds of free software that post comments to thousands of blogs at one click. This kind of backlink creation is not motivated and can cause spam alert. Google hates automated blog comment creation. Same goes to any other directories using auto submission tools. There is something in blogging and website or SEO that still can’t be automated and that is link building. I suggest you not to participate in any automated link building activity as it may get us penalty. Remember, we want to improve our SERP ranking not completely remove from search engines.
Personally, I have a simple calculation on how many backlinks that I should make a day. It depends on number of comments I get each day. If my blog gets 20 comments a day, then I would make 20 new backlinks pointing to blog. Well, that is my personal exercise on link building for this blog. Website might be easier because there is less number of outgoing links created each day. I would say blogs give out more links out compared to static websites. If you have started a blog or website, I would suggest building 10-20 new links a day on consistent basis. Remember to mix and use several “anchored keyword”. For example, I always use “Atniz”, Atniz – Work At Home”, “Work From Home”, “Reena”, “Reena Ashwina”, etc.

Does The baclink refer only to dofollow link or also nofollow link?

Backlinks refers to both dofollow and nofollow link. But for Google, only dofollow links will help in SERP ranking in google search engines and help to increase pagerank. However, nofollow links still get indexed in Yahoo and other search engines.

It’s true, sometimes we may caught up too much on other parts than link building. It happens to me frequently too. At least, we can find someone that always remind us on the importance of backlinks.

Nofollow links does help our website. In terms of traffic and overall backlinks count. There are other search engines than google that gives credit to nofollow links in their SERP ranking too.

I like the idea of building as many backlinks as you get comments, that way you get a target. Its pretty easy to get penalised by Googleso I think its worth going slow – I try to do both dofollow and nofollow to ensure it looks natural to google

It’s good to have both nofollow and dofollow backlinks as both benefit us in traffic and ranking, at least not on google only. As long as link building are not made automated, it is safe from penalty.

Thanks for the info. This might be a dumb question but not clear on what you mean “20 new backlinks pointing to blog”. Point back to the actual blog site, or blog page?

It depends, but usually I do both. Some links to the actual post permalink URL and the rest to the main domain URL.

Yes, you do. Commenting is my preferred way of backlink creation. However, try to engage in other link building methods too. A combination of several link building methods can increase our ranking in SERP results.

Organic backlinks is what google prefers. But, totally depending on organic backlinks is not so helpful for a new blog or website. Building backlinks will certainly help a new blog to outshine and look better.

It sounds easy to build 20 links a day, but the problem is about consistency, I often fail about this one. In first month everything looks easy, but at the next months, it starts to feel boring. I think I need to find fun way to do it

I agree with you. Personally, I never do it consistently too. It is tiring and boring to do link building every single day. But, if we can find good motivation and fun way on doing it, I’m sure everyone will do good in link building part.

It’s true. Multiple sites need a lot of works especially on link building. That is why probloggers or super affiliates tend to leave link building part to freelance. It is a lot easy to let this part to handle by those who knows well about it.

It is tempting to use automated backlink building programs that is available online for free. But, there are higher chance for us to get banned or blacklist from search engines from doing it. So, it is good to go slow and steady. As long as, we can see some progress.

When starting up quantity doesn’t hurt but once you grow you’ll notice that you’ll naturally tend towards quality.
I don’t recommend using any automated backlink programs, why? because I had one and got penalized by google, users who used it got penalized by google too, so its just not worth it in the long run. Quality will prevail.

how many comments should we make a day
is it 10-20 or up to 100 a day?

It is totally up to you. As long as it is not automated, any numbers will do. For example, if you able to be on top of Top Commentator widget on John Chow blog, it will give you thousands of backlinks considering that Top commentators widget are shown sidewide. Just don’t make it automated and you are on safe side.

I like this post and I don’t mean that in a spammy sort of way.
Blogging is supposed to be about interaction and I believe a reader should respect (not necessarily agree with) an author’s opinion and respond in kind.
Automation of comments turns blogging into one giant supermarket bulletin board where one sales flyer is tacked over the last with no regard for the message the last person was trying to get out to the community.
mytheory – 100 meaningful comments in a day!! That’s a lot of writing!

Atniz, I have built my site around 2-3 high ranking keywords, I have 75 links at this moment in time and I cannot get more than 5-8 clicks a day.
With Adwords I get 120-160 a day.
I only show up at 4,000,000 aprox in Alexa.
Do I go after different keywords or more links?

How is your conversion rate from adwords?
Try targeting for long tail keywords and monitor the conversion. Keep the highest performing keywords in your adword campaign and go for SEO on this keywords.
You should go after more links too too. SEO and links are well connected. Build more content to your site. It is good to have content management service like wordpress installed.
