Twitter Search Future
The trend of search engine is moving very fast. Google is still preferred search engine by many people. But, Twitter search is becoming more popular as it is based on real-time search results. You can get latest updates within seconds as new search results from Twitter search. Unlike, Google or any other “traditional” search engines, the results will be same for a longer time frame. It is one of the reason why Twitter becomes so popular within short period of time. People want to know the latest update of any news. It’s not that google update any new contents from news site slow, but it is still not fast enough when it compared to Twitter.
Of course, that is why we call Twitter search as real-time search engine. Is this how our future search engine is going to be? Google is frequently changing their algorithm based on various factors especially, backlinks, relevancy, content update date, and more. Of course, you can’t include all the content in 140 words. But, the concept of search results in google, also will only excerpt of full content in 160 words but much older content. With increasing popularity among news channels, directories, forums and more updates on Twitter, I think we are heading towards real-time trend soon.
I know it is a very controversial topic to discuss difference between real-time search engine like Twitter search and common search engine like Google. Everyone knows that Twitter is an addictive platform and those who in this network prefers to get real-time answers to their question. Personally, I will look search for question on Twitter search before sending a tweet asking about to my followers. I’m sure most likely everyone will hear what their friends recommend instead of clicking some links on search engine and finding it on our own.

Totally different perception. But, we are just comparing with real-time and traditional search engines. I think google will switch to real time soon too.

I find myself using twitter as a search platform more then Google of late. I don’t want to see Google’s search engine gone, but an option for real time search on Google would be great. I hate searching Google and finding links from 2001 that are no longer relevant

I’ve always found Twitter useful and fun to use for searching for the latest news etc, but sometimes you have to be careful as some people tweet complete fabrications…

I agree. The twitter account poll shows that almost 15% users have more than 10 twitter accounts. How to manage all this accounts manually?

In my opinion, it’s too quick for us to comment on the twitter search engine because it’s still new. Google search engine have a lot of data , it take a long time to update all of it meanwhile twitter search engine still can cope with the search demand for now. Who know the twitter search engine will become like google’s later.

Yes, I agree. We can see the trend is slowly moving to real time search results. When it comes to twitter, I never see the graph goes down. The second famous page in twitter is their search page.

Random reactions: First, I use Twitter and Google very differently. For Twitter, I want to hear the real time discussion as it happens, and I want real time searching. What matters most, what is most relevant, is how recently the tweet was made.
When I search on Google, I’m looking for historic information. What matters most is how reputable the information is, and not how recent it is. The one exception to that is when I search Google News. Then, I would like it to be much more like the realtime Twitter search.
Other thoughts: I end up using PeopleBrowsr to search Twitter a lot. I strongly recommend it.
Another thought: I also use TwitterFeed to post my blog entries to Twitter. I want my blog posts to show up for both, people doing real time searches on Twitter, as well as for people doing historical searches on Google.
Enough for now…..

Looks like you are really utilizing the search tool on real time and google. Even google have the option to show “Recent results”. Updates with less than a minute shown there. I think google just trying their best to show real time search results too like twitter.
