Blogging for fun just enables us to write some ranting about our surrounding and daily life. It is just like a personal diary. But, if you can optimize your blog to be specific niche and search engine optimized, and able to get rank higher place on some targeted keywords, it can deliver some money to our pocket. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have private domain or don’t know how to operate wordpress blog. All it matters is good knowledge of SEO and consistency in content creation and link building.
I am not going to talk about SEO. You can find it on my seo category or seo tag. Make money online is easy if your target is below than $100/month. But, if your target is $100/day or four figures per month, then you need to spend a lot of time with less expectation. Of course, you need to spend a lot of time on good content creation while reading a lot of articles in your niche. Plus, getting quality backlinks from related sites can be time consuming too.
Every effort surely gets pay off once you able to get good SERP ranking in google and other search engines. SEO is like a tool for a blog to rank well. Knowing about SEO helps your blog to rank better SERP ranking and bring more targeted traffic freely. More traffic means more money in your pocket. If you able to get first rank on any of the highly targeted keyword, I’m sure you will be contacted by many advertisers to run simple text link ads or banner advertisement on your blog.
Here is an example of a simple blogspot blog that freely hosted on google servers with free domain ranked #1 on google.com for “make money online”. Noticed that this blog have long history of posts from achieves but who would expect to get paid $100 for a single 125×125 ad space on a free blogging platform (blogspot). This is the best example that I can find if we give importance to quality contents, link building, seo and most importantly consistency.

well I personally think that advertisers look for niche based websites with high traffic. Yes but free websites or free hosted websites like blogger,free wordpress is looked down upon but again a high ranking blog with good traffic can attract many advertisers.

Yes. Usually, free blogspot and wordpress blogs are the last to look for many advertisers. But, traffic can beat this perception.
I’m a newbie blogger too. My blog is almost eight-month old and have a PR2 since May. I don’t make keyword search or anything like that when I write my blogs but when a searcher happened to type words in my contents, my site often land on page 1 of Google results. Can I say my site is already SEO’d?

You need to increase more backlinks, currently, you have 1k+ backlinks.
Also, your domain is expiring in 8 months, renew it and extend it for longer period (preferably 5 years). Search engine will give more credit to longer expiry domains.

I have checked the blogspot blog you mentioned about and I noticed that he is high up there on the search although his blog’s PR rank is very low. I am beginning to wonder whether PR really matters in the succes of your blog. Newbie here so I would like your take on this.
PR don’t play role in SERP ranking. Backlinks from relevant and high quality pages and frequent related content creation plays an important role there. Try to concentrate more on quality content creation for blog post and always build links (commenting) on related blogs to your blog. Try to use “Keyword” as your name to get anchored dofollow backlink (dofollow blogs). It will certainly help to increase SERP ranking in Google.

I agree with you. Though blogger is free domain but I have seen blogger blogs with PR 6 and I think many will like to place ads on those type of high quality blogs.

I have left blogger for a long time and don’t really follow the update. I think getting a good theme that is SEO friendly can solve this problem. There are many free template for bloggers these days, SEO friendly type. Try googling.
