Email marketing is still one of the preferred ways of advertising for many. That is why; a lot of marketers use unique techniques to gather real people email. Common email providers like gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc have good spam filter installed. So, getting a list of these types of emails have less success rate compared to private domain email address. Most of us use Outlook Express or other local email management software to manage these accounts. It is not easy to manage good spam filter for this type of accounts.
This is an advantage for email marketing groups to attack private domain emails. If you are an email marketer, what will you do to get email addresses? The first method is getting email contacts from forwarded emails. It can provide more than 10 layers of friends contact in one short email. Create an interesting email with pictures or short video and start sending with a message, “Forward this message to all your friends, and to me”. Everyone loves to share sensitive, cute, funny stuff with friends and family members. Here you get a copy of their entire friend’s email forwarded back to you.
Next, go on surfing websites and submit contact us form pretending to ask some stupid question. Whenever you get a reply, you will get the email of those who responds to your question. You can get millions of unique domain email addresses using this way. If you consistently do this, you may end up collecting more than 10k email id within a week. So, next time before forwarding or replying any emails, try to be extra careful. You may not know which spam list your email land on.

I hope you realise that by using the methods you suggest you become a spammer. If all you want to do is send out jokes or pics you probably won’t get reported but if you attempt any marketing chances are someone will report your activities.
There are far better ways to get email addresses for email marketing and lets face it. If you start emailing offers to buy products to people who you don’t know and who you have no relationship with the chances of actually selling them anything are slim to none.
Personally I’d stay right away from using any of these methods unless you don’t care about prosecution or being known as a spammer.
This is just a simple technique that some of the spammers used to collect email addresses for email marketing. I’m just pointing out these methods so users will be aware before forwarding any emails to friends or family members.
Just a correction. Isn’t it supposed to be phising?
Phishing means The luring of an internet user to reveal personal details (like passwords and credit card information) on a fake web page or email form pretending to come from a legitimate company (like their bank)
I can’t use this word since they don’t absorb private information, just some working email ids. So, thought of fishing could be better.
I just know about the trick how to collect somebody’s email who we didn’t know yesterday. 1 more, there is also a software that can absorb all the emails leave on any website. I really hate spam and luckily I don’t have time to forward the chain email.
Yes, I heard of this software too. In fact there are ways to extract email id from search engines too. I couldn’t find the correct syntax to share it on this post. Everyone hates spam.
Spam has truly reached epidemic levels. I manage a domain for the company that I work for and on any given month we received about 2 million spam messages. We filter 98.5% of this right into the digital bit bucket. I find the vast majority of e-mail marketers could not write a quality message to save their souls. Getting addresses is the easy part, getting around the filters is the hard part.
I could not agree more with your comment about replying and forwarding messages. I think you nailed this right on the head as how most e-mail addresses get into the “wild”.
Wow! 2 million spam messages a month? If you want to filter those messages to find genuine, I guess you need a team there to do this job. Nowadays, I stop giving out my personal email, instead giving out gmail account email id. It is easy to control spam over gmail.
Ok guys this is what you do…..keep a group mailing list of 20 or so people, it doesn’t matter if you know them all or not….but put the women you would like to “Keep In Touch” with on the list and mail out jokes, pics, thoughts, etc.
Why women? I think men are the same too. Just different type of content will attract them, you know what I mean.
I don’t see a quick solution for this email spamming…We will be spammed and no way to get it stopped completely..Though Gmail’s spam prevention is the best I think but now a days people will send you spam emails instead of bots or some automatic software…Infact sending email to different people is a job for many and they are paid for that.
Thanks
Spamming is part of job? I wonder who will get benefited from this method. There are so many companies opt to gmail instead of using their own private domain email type because of spam protection. I guess, it is the best choice we have since we get it for free.
