Wow.. Almost in most cases RAM is the big cause of many problems. I think before we change or check anything, better start to check the RAM. I agree googling can find some good tips. Also, twitter have some quick response. I didn’t use both and lost some money there.

I had the same problem with you but differ in solution.. i took the video card and clean it with lighter fluid.. after that put it back and it works again.. it saved my time to reformat my pc again..

I’ve had almost the same experience like you, but without the blue screen. My old desktop computer started to freeze 30 sec. from 5 to 5 minutes making a shot high frequency sound. I’ bought a registry cleaner… nothing, I’ve scanned it with my antivirus…nothing, repair and after that reinstall my Windows…the same annoying problem. Only after some help from a forum, I’ve figure out to change my RAM memory. Thanks to Google and to these guys I’ve saved a lot of money.

Great link shared here Ramarao! I wish to read this or tweet about the problem before getting it repaired on my own. A good lesson learned there. Probably, next time I will use the resources first before taking out some money for it.

Yeah, one of my friend is still working for more than few years now in computer repair field. Unable to answer the problem exactly. But, at first he guessed about the RAM. Never thought it could be the problem.

Repairing old computers is harder because hard to find some parts. Just like SDRAM, nowadays, we can’t find it easily. Even if someone is selling, the price would be very high. The same goes with the mainboard that doesn’t support SATA cable.
