I agree with you on this phenomenon..
Because I have myself noticed during keyword research that most of the websites on the top ranking have poor design and out of date content which is of no use to anyone.
A really waste of time and money!

Though not the worst designed sites I have seen, those pale in comparison to some myspace pages. My favorite has to be the red font with blue background. Makes you want to scratch your eyes out.

I totally agree,
I checked the link you posted and all those websites just looked too horrible. Too many bright colors mixed, awful navigation bars as headers, etc.
If these websites rank so well, it sure isn“t because the way they look. Any web designer does better than that, lol.
Good Friday!

It’s a good example of how a website shouldn’t be. Can say worst case scenario there.

If you think about it, the most popular web sites are those that are clutter free and have plenty of white spaces. A good friend once told me that these white spaces are for the eyes; they provide a spot for your eyes to rest.

They have plenty of reason to have white space. Some says, using black background saves energy on monitor of your visitors. It depends on how we take it. But, the basic design of color combination and navigation was out in this case.
