Check Your Spam Comments
Not many bloggers check their spam comment list here. Not all comments in spam are spam. There are several good and nice comments related to the blog posts queued in spam list. Either you use Akismet or any other spam filter plugins, some good comments are still can be found in spam comment list. Some of regular commentator’s comments hit spam box as well. Failing to moderate spam box might cost us losing some of our hardcore blog’s fan. Make sure to frequently check your spam box for any genuine comments.
Each day, I approve more than 10 genuine comments in spam box. If you are commenting on someone’s blog and found out that your comment is in spam list. Quickly, inform the blogger using contact page with your comment details such as URL, Name, Email, etc. This would help the blogger approve your comment. Well, how to check comment hit spam box? It’s easy. Whenever you hit “Submit Comment” button, if the next page referred to “blank page”, then your comment is in spam box. Contact the blogger immediately.
Just because your IP or name reported by someone to spam filter, it doesn’t mean all comments coming from the same IP will be spam. Spammers don’t stick with one IP address. They use dynamic IP and proxy sites to spam. There might be some genuine reader that uses the particular IP can be a victim. So, check your comments in spam box regularly.

i’ve checked my spam comments few weeks ago and recovered about 10 comments from my blog readers that caught by askimet as spam comment. Now, everyday, I’ll check my spam comment whether there are any non-spam comments from my blog readers.

It’s actually how spam plugin works. Once the comment got marked as scam, then forever it will end up in spam box unless we approve it.

I do check my spam everyday and I can say at least one isn’t spam. The filters are good but sometimes too good!

I keep thinking about that classic Monty Python comedy sketch…….when I hear the word SPAM.
But spam commenters are so stupid, its really easy to get caught, so why do they try it?
Its just easier to make a relevant comment, one that discusses the topic of the article, and to become part of the conversation, and get your links naturally!

Some software do auto commenting. They submit to thousands of blogs. Calculating the possibilities of blogs with moderation, spam filter, no filter, etc – the chances of getting some backlinks is still high. That is why spam always grows.

I don’t use an automatic spam comment filter> Instead, I’m the filter by moderating every comment. I like to read every comment (spam or no spam) so requiring moderation just makes me lok at comments several times per day!

Sometimes I don’t get it when I check my list of fresh comments. There a lot of spam url which is when we click it not going anywhere. Is it just to test whether our blog had comment moderation?

Maybe the URL have been removed or redirect to any other URL just to pass some page rank juice or traffics. Some SEO called it as one of the black hat SEO method.

It is very necessary to check. If you not check it cut down your page relevancy.

I understand your feeling there. I feel the same too. I don’t comment 200 comments a day like those day. But, commenting around 5 – 6 comments a day on blog post that really have good post. It is frustrating to see that blank page after we hit submit comment button.

Spam comment means unrelated, general, full of links type of comment posted for SEO purpose. Giving out links for spam links like viagra, pharmacy, etc.. on unrelated blog post makes us look bad in search engine. The quality drops on pages with spam links.

Just mark as spam and if you have spam filter, it will block any comment coming from this email in future. Then, delete it.
