We can only follow a max of 1,000 followers a day on twitter. It doesn’t matter on how many people can follow us but we can only follow a maximum of 1,000 followers a day. So, if you have subscribed to any “U Follow I Follow” twitter application, try not to meet the following limit manually. I use Tweetlater to follow those who follow me and unfollow those who unfollow me back. This site helps me to follow those who follows me with a auto direct message introducing ourselves. It also helps nofollow those who nofollow me.
There are groups of twitter members who follow to get us follow back. Once we follow them, they will unfollow us. It gives them more space to follow new members in order to increase followers faster. In my opinion, this is dirty technique that must be stopped. I strongly support twitter movement on these three rules:
1. You Follow, I Follow
2. You Nofollow, I Nofollow
3. Keep Balanced Followers and Following Closely
The above rules helped me to gain 100 – 200 new followers each day. Also, having balanced followers with following numbers motivates others to follow us. This is just an assumption that the twitter account holder follows those who follows him. We just need to post more tweets out to get our twitter name listed in any keyword searched in twitter search.

I am still really confused about the whole twitter thing.
I suggest you to start a twitter account and apply all the way to get more followers. Once, your followers increases, you will see it’s potential.
I’ve always tried to follow those that are interesting and are not tweeting SPAM, but I do remove those that haven’t tweeted in more than 30 days, so that I can follow better tweeters, I also “vet” my followers through TweetLater, as there seem to be a lot of porn twitters rearing their ugly heads lately, so I have the option of blocking them..
