I Broke Someones Collarbone

This is the first time I ever involved in accident. I drove an MPV type turning right at the junction. All of a sudden, a motorcycle came and hit my car’s front bumper and flown away. I saw him turning few rounds in the air and the ground. It was heavily raining and around 4pm and I’m very sure I don’t see any bike or car before moving at the junction. Luckily, my cousin was in the car and ran to the victim to check if he is okay. He is conscious and unable to move. A crowd of almost 50 people gathered in minutes. All of them pointing the car and talking among themselves. I was sitting in the car, and I’m sure you know how it feels like. I immediately called the ambulance and it arrived in less than 10 minutes.

Then, I followed the ambulance to the hospital which is just 5 minutes distance from accident place. I checked with the hospital staff (my mum’s friend) that he is still alive. I drove back home because I was so confused on what to do. I know that I have 24 hours time to make a report from accident time. So, I took a short nap and start sketching a report after my nap. Some of the strong point I declared there was:

- 8 years of driving experience and this was my first accident.
- It was heavily raining.
- I’m not familiar with the roads there.

They fined $300 and let the lawyers handle the insurance claim for both my car and the victim’s bike. I need to inform the insurance company within 14 days of accident. I just checked again with the police officer on the victim status. He suffering from broken collar bone, and other minor injuries. This case will be drag to court. I am just hoping that he will get well soon. I’m so scared to bring the car anymore.

Have you involved in any accidents before? Whats you did? How bad it was?

  1. At least you feel guilty. I would be worried if you didn’t. Know one really likes inflicting pain on someone especially broken bones. Accidents so happen, it is good you took responsibility.

When it rains, it’s easier for accidents to happen :( But the good thing is that you did help the injured guy, and that will save you a lot of troubles with lawyers. Wish you that everything goes fine with the claim and all.

Off Topic: I bookmarked this blog on my n0t.info site :) I hope it’s alright with you.

Thanks Luana. I feel better now. Actually, I asked him to call his family members using my mobile and inform them about his condition. I hope things with the lawyers will get smooth.

I agree. It is my fault. I didn’t deny it even to the police officer and accepted the fine. I just feel bad on the biker who is suffering from broken bones.
