1. Time To Quit Job For Work At Home
There are many articles and idea of working from home shared in blogs and websites. My main goal of this blog is to share ideas that enables us to fully work from home. Frankly, my online income is not consistent. It is not like working for a company and get paid a stagnant amount by end of the month. Work at home is similar as you are running your own business. The income maybe high or zero, depending on many factors. With this sort of income channel, we cannot commit to buy car, properties, monthly bills, etc.
Even though your blog earns you four or five figure income, please don’t quit your job. I always don’t believe in one source of income. The best time to quit job is when you are fully secured with good saving and have multiple source of income that supports you and your family. The risk of quitting job for married couples especially those with childrens are much higher. Earning small amount from online is easy. Earning large amount from online is not so easy. But, earning consistent small amount or large amount from online is the hardest part.
If you are new to blogging for money, try to be patient and learn new stuff each day. Apply it and study the results. Instead of concentrating on blogging alone, try affilate marketing, SEO works, content creation, link building services, etc. My best advice for those who are new to blogging is don’t quit your current job. Always hunt for alternate source of income. Use blog as your last weapon.
My answer of best time to quit job is:
1. Getting montly income from various source of total $1k/month/family member
2. Secured saving of $300k (earns dividend)
3. Paid full hire purchase and housing loan
4. Have health insurance for all family members
What is your idea on the best time to quit job?

Honestly, I am about to quit my job but realizes and weigh the pros and cons of doing so and decided not yet. I still want my job not because I am earning enough on it but because I am happy with it. Its like my day job is my sideline and my other job is at home which is awkward right? But I am happy with what I am currently doing and that’s what is important to me right now.

Hi Atniz,
Remember me Izad from JB?
You just said the right thing. Blogging is good but never quit the current job unless we have a really good income for our family.
Anyway, nice blog you have here.

If I can earn $1000 per month part time, then I don’t need to keep my day job. However, since I can earn it blogging only part time, I don’t need to quit my day job either… I will only quit if I am no longer happy with what I am doing.

I’m always surprised that so many people still think that being moderately successful online is a good reason to quit a job. Didn’t people learn anything from the dot-com boom businesses failing? An online business just isn’t all that steady, even if you consider it to be solid. Anything short of Google or Ebay is totally capable of dying out in the blink of an eye.

It’s true Erica. A lot of hard work and investments still don’t guarantee online success unless we can see some positive amount in our paypal account each day. Continuous effort needed in any online business. Lack of updating for few days or weeks might kill the business.

I would love to quit my job, but then I would have to be making some serious cash. My blog doesn’t make me millions, but I am going in the direction that I set for myself and thats all I need for now.
To those that are already working from home, congrats to them.

Pretty risky advice there. I mean not everyone’s cut out to managing their own time. I know I wouldn’t be able to do it efficiently.

It is risky to say bye bye to our day job. Very risky unless we have the strong support. Otherwise, it is not a good idea at all.

Good advise. Something to consider is that not everyone can be responsible enough to work alone from home. Time management can be very difficult. Years back I remember having a full time job and side work from home and I worked constantly on my side biz and had little time for family or other priorities. My home work seemed never ending for very little pay or reward because my time management was way off.
Ive since work on time management and have a better allocation for projects on home biz AND have time to spend with family.
Making steady income from a home biz is also difficult, and as mentioned earlier, the bubble can burst at any moment…ala dot com businesses of yester years.

I agree with you. Time management and self-discipline is the hardest part to control working at home. Plus, online business sometimes can be very unpredictable. It is a high risk to totally depending on online income.

I quit my job 3 years ago to work online full time. My company now employs several people.
Working for a company will never have the ability to make as much money as you can make online, but you also need the right mindset. Having changes as much as 20% in your income month-to-month isn’t something everyone can deal with.
I certainly don’t think the vast majority of people need $300k saved up (and if you’re only making $1000/month/family member you’re going to need thousands of family members or thousands of years to save that much), but don’t do it unless you’re comfortable and can very easily cover existing bills on a below average month.

Good to hear that you have been doing own business and employing several people. Your company must be established. What I meant was, having a whole sum of saving $300k in FD and having multiple source of income (not from day job) that can support $1k/family members can be a good time say “I Quit” to day job. However, if we are not comfortable with it, then better not quit yet.

To quit or not to quit? Many of ask ourselves that question at some point in our career. But it’s a question often met with guilty feelings. We have the mentality that we must push on through, never giving up, to reach the light at the end of the tunnel. There’s guilt associated with being a quitter; if we throw in the towel, it means there’s something wrong with us. But quitting can be productive sometimes, so long as you know when to do it.

I agree with you on the guilty feeling. If we feel that way, it means we are still not ready. Well, this is just my opinion.

I been working from home for almost two years now. One of the best decisions I have ever made. Of course it is tough on your own initially, but it’s ballsy people who make it, EVERY TIME. Launch out into the deep blue sea….. get away from the timid feeders who stay on the bank….get good coaching “daily” and burn the bridges behind you so you can’t run back when the pressures on!

For me, the best time to quit for a job, is when you get a stable income for which you have already your own business, you have your employee, you own a savings at a bank, you have properties such us a land, house and a car. Don’t have any problem regarding financial matters. You get to attend all your needs. And after that, then maybe you have to quit your job.

Working at home has its plus and minuses. Requires a lot of discipline, you can save the cost of transport to work. We can divide his time working at several stages, and we do not have to get up early in the morning
