Thanks to Katherine for asking me to post my opinion on recent Entrecard paid ads system.
I have never seen Entrecard been so quiet before. There are no blog posts for more than 10 days. They offered cash out on 17th for mere $1/ECk which is good news for many. I am not happy with the double standard ad system as well too. At first, they introduced Entrecard credit system and convinced us it will be a new era of online currency to buy things. Now, they even approved to accept money and EC. What is happening with Entrecard?
Those days, Graham used to ask members on the application on Entrecard before implementing it. Personally, I still support Entrecard as it has introduced many wonderful bloggers to me in one year time. Also, I have able to learn a lot about blogging industry from active members. Unlike, other blog network, Entrecard gives a closer touch among bloggers with varieties and gives immediate traffic of 50-100 visits each day for any new blog. Maybe for this reason, I’m still promoting Entrecard wherever I can.
What about you? Do you have any problem with Entecard? Are you all happy with it? Let it go in the comment section.

What I like about EC was the traffic that it brings to my new site when I started with my internet exploration. This year I removed it not because I don’t like it but because I find no time to manage my EC account and click ECs. Well, I have still thousands of EC credits on my account today but I am not utilizing it yet. If I have find free time today, I will check my account again and see if what I could do with my credits.
Good to hear that you have used EC before. Dropping 300 cards each day consuming a lot of time. You can stay with the family by just dropping on those who have dropped on you. For me, EC is a great place to utilize our SEO activity.
I have visited their site awhile ago and looks like there were many comments on their posts regarding their services and the changes that were made. I still hope that they would fix this. The outcome will be judge of all of this.
We all hope for that John. Looks like they are still preparing a good blog post for nearly 2 weeks as of now there are no single blog post yet from Entrecard for 14 days (last post 8th of April)
I certainly hope EC will solve its problems as I love Entrecard and have met wonderful people through it. Possibly people are not commenting on the new system because, like me, they are waiting to see how it will work out.
I hope the problem solves too. But, the thing is, Graham don’t think it is a problem to Entrecard at all. Seems like no one really talk bad about the paid ad system at all from Entrecard management.
I am not a huge fan of the paid ads and have only been approving those from bloggers I recognize. I am still dropping, but never had any interest in cashing out credits, so feel no pressure to accept paid ads.
Good for you. For now, I’m approving all ads on my blog from EC, either paid or unpaid.
Atniz it’s interesting to see how this is all playing out since our last conversation. do you remember when we were in the middle of a deal to exchange credits when that was quashed by Graham. and here we sit today wondering if Graham is indeed in the middle of a Bust Out – as rumored on Twitter.
things around Entrecard certainly are taking a turn for the worse; no doubt.
so do you have any ideas of what we can do with the ec’s which will be worthless when Graham Bust’s Out ?
also did you hear Greg is starting his own version of an Entrecard Like Traffic Exchange system ?
Yeah. I miss those days when we have the power to buy/sell EC credit freely. I think it is how it supposed to be. I have no idea of the future of EC. For now, Entrecard traffic is the highest bounce back traffic (currently at 90%) on my site. I don’t know how it goes with others.
I think it is good if Graham concentrate more on this kind of issues rather than controlling the EC. If we don’t have the quality, what is the use of having all those rubbish, right?
I have been (and continue) to be patient about this two tier ad system. I do believe unless there are some serious changes made to the paid ad system it will simply not work. Having said that, the paid ad system is still very ‘young’ and I don’t see anyone selling 1,000 credit for $1. There is a lack of money in the economy right now and unless the credit problem will be tackled I doubt it will work. Unless you offer between $8-$10 per 1,000 credits the majority will not consider to sell credits.
I do think there should be a second widget for paid advertisers and members should be given the option to put that second widget on their blogs. That way regular ads will get 100% exposure (the old system) and paid advertisers will be extra.
Maybe there should be some sort of benefit for members who chose to place the second widget on their blog.
I hope that something will be done to fix this. I do enjoy Entrecard and it has been a great community.
When the economy is back normal, the rate will be around $3 as what Graham mention it in Twitter. For $1/k, he just want to cleared out some excess EC from the system. I have more than 130k EC in stock. I have signed up to cash out for $1 and there are no reply. It is not no1 want to sell at $1, but no one get the offer to sell it yet.
For me, advertising on EC using EC credit is not a good idea as I used to spend over 2kEC/day for advertising on Atniz glory days in Entrecard. Not anymore as I prefer to concentrate more on all source of traffic source like search engine, direct traffic, forums, etc. So, my EC continue to pile up. For me, any money I can make from EC is good.
Let us wait any see what is the outcome.
I agree with Blazing Minds. For me, I will support Entrecard in any way because with out them. I can not see this nice blog and post. But for any Entrecard changes or implementation to system, please email to inform every user because I also the last want to know about Entrecard changes.
I agree Suwari. At least, send a survey form for us to ask our opinion. World of business and marketing is depending on survey. All I can say is Entrecard have the base, but not utilizing it.
Hey – I’m so glad you said something about this. I’ve been wondering how you felt about all the changes. I don’t like them at all – and am considering dropping from EC for good. I don’t want to – I love the idea behind Entrecard – but I don’t like the new paid ads at all. My popularity ranking has shriveled up, the regular droppers I have aren’t so regular anymore, and I don’t like clicking on an ad and not knowing whether I’m going to a paid site or an EC site.
I give the new latest implements two thumbs down (three if you look at the picture I put up on my blog) – and I think Graham and the others need to seriously rethink this. A lot of good people aren’t happy….and that says something.
Thanks again for the post – it was definitely enlightening, as always.
xx
Hi Katherina. I forgot to mention about you in the post. Now, I have updated it. Overall, the popularity ranking drops for all members because not many people are dropping anymore. Obviously, most a lot of EC members are not happy with the current changes.
I really don’t like the advertising system that EC has implemented, I think it’s not fair on those that have worked hard to get their EC credits to advertise on a blog only to be pushed to one side for paid ads, I only keep EC on my blog for the fact that I enjoy reading those that drop on me, but I am considering quitting from it, if it carries on with it’s current ventures!
I think Graham need to do something about it. It really sounds like most of the EC members are not happy about it too.
Yep, like you I have become very disillusioned with the EntreCard system.
To the point that I will not accept any more paid ads; I’ve tried the paid ads thing and found that generally since this was implemented, my EC credit ads have dropped off to the point that they are near non existant.
More information on this decision at http://www.agt.id.au/2009/04/no-more-entrecard-paid-ads/.
I think a lot of EC members are in the same boat as well.
