Page Rank Update Soon March 2009
For every 3 months once, new page rank (PR) update will be updated. The last page rank update was end of December 2008. So, the next update is assumed to take place by end of this month (March 2009). I’m sure many will write about their current gain or loss in PR in next few days. Good, bad or even, page rank plays one of the roles in all websites or blogs.
Try to learn more about page rank and take appropriate action to improve it. If you don’t bother, then just ignore it. Page rank works closely with dofollow link. Monitor any of your outgoing dofollow links and work on improving incoming dofollow backlinks from high PR pages or sidewide. Also, keep updating your blog or website content.
If you are page rank concern person, please share your idea on below question in comments. For those who still don’t understand well about page rank, please check out Page rank for more information.
What is your page rank target?
What are the actions you have taken to improve it?
Mine is PR5
Action: Be a top dropper on 100+ blogs that gives sidwide dofollow backlink for top 5-10 top entrecard droppers.

I honestly do not understand the obsession with PageRank, people should be more focussed about ranking well for important keyword phrases IMO.

Page rank and SERP work closely. That is why everyone prefer to use keyword in comment name section, especially on dofollow blogs. I think you should know it too as well.

I agree with Atniz. High pagerank help SERP ranks, but it is not the most important factor. To get high rank on SERP get backlink to your site using the keyword as title.

Yes Ian. Not all dofollow blog owners are deleting keyword type names in the comment section. I approve comments with keyword in this blog too. The hyperlinked keyword name from high PR dofollow blog pages will certainly help to boost up in SERP.

It seems like the last PageRank update was a lifetime ago.
I’m looking for a PR of 2 or 3 for the site in my sig, and a PR of 5 for another site I own. I couldn’t care less about the PageRank of other sites I own.

Don’t hold your breath……Historically, PR updates occur between 60 to 160 days apart. The “Average interval” between updates is around 90 days, but there have been LONG intervals (as much as 5 month) with no updates.
Furthermore, the amount of links needed to go from PR 4 to PR 5 is exponentially higher than the jump from PR 3 to PR 4. (roughly 10x more than the previous level).
Rather than worrying about Page Rank, I concentrate on being at the top of SERP organically, and getting traffic….the PR will eventually go up!
Sorry… forgot to say great post – can’t wait to read your next one!

I’ve been in serious blogging for about a year now. And, it is happening every 3 months once. So far, never exceed more than 4 months. 60 days is too soon. Thanks for sharing this valuable info. I agree on the number of backlinks we need to increase one step to higher groups (PR5+).

Mine I just aim for PR4, one step from PR3. I don’t know if what I have done with my blog for the past 3 months will make it.

My site seems to be getting pretty decent results in organic SERPs. PR is not so important a factor, but is A factor. So I will be on the look out. But not biting my nails!

We’re a 3 hoping for a 4. Last update we were unchanged.
Since then we have improved our practices by making use of the Wordpress all in one SEO pack and we’ve also begun using the nofollow tag on our random outbound links that we felt did not deserve the juice.
We’ve eliminated duplicate content when the same posts showed up on the front page, archive page, author page, and category page. Google does not appreciate duplicate content!
We’ve also guest-posted on popular blogs like ProBlogger and ArtOfManliness and we’re hoping those high quality links will pay off this time around.
Excellent post by the way!

I have always monitored the PageRank of my sites. I look at Pagerank as a tool to monitor the amount of quality incoming links I have.
With that being said… The more incoming quality links I have the better off I will be in SERP’s.
Therefor I dofollow google ranks

It is not actually the quality, but it is more related to dofollow. Many sites are not giving dofollow links. If you want to get good page rank, I suggest you to concentrate more on dofollow blogs.

PR is one factor used in determining rank for SERPs and it’s far from the most important. I’ve studied SERPs for numerous phrases over the years and found many PR0 pages rank in the top 10 right along with, and often above, higher PR pages and sites. For example, I just did a search for “talking watch”. The PR for each result is as follows: 0,4,2 2,2,3,3,3,1,0,3. There are many reasons why a PR0 page can beat a PR4 page.

PR is one of the factor in SERP but not plays an important role. Hyperlinked keyword with dofollow link from high PR pages are playing important role in SERP. Also, the content.

I firmly believe that PR does not have any high significance. It can help you in link exchange only. Its kind of psychological satisfaction.
