Recently, I have been facing slow Internet connection. I am using both wireless broadband and DSL connection for both my computers. Last few days, both connections is so slow until I have to wait for 30 minutes to load my own blog. It seems that the service providers are still looking for the cause that makes overall Internet connection slow in Malaysia. I have tried going to several Internet café where the scenario is the same.
Here is an example of things that we can’t do when Internet is too slow:
- Can’t reply email to all
- Downloading larger files in email especially outlook can block your other incoming emails.
- Unable to check new job opportunity or apply in any freelance job platform
- Any online works like blog maintenance, SEO works, Link Building, Online Marketing will be doomed.
- Almost no online income (Things will go worst for those who work full time online).
If you are totally depending on one Internet connection, try to find an alternate source of connectivity. Paying more for the connection will assure your work never stops. Of course, we can’t do anything if all sources are slow but that is the worst case scenario.

This is why i use good providers like verizon and Optimum. I also make sure to defrag so tht my browser is fast as well.
Defrag is a good idea. I have schedule defrag on weekly basis too.
Well, I suggest you sue your internet provider company like I did. If several users do that I can assure you they will improve the quality of their horrible service.
Moving to another area is not an option in some countries.
I agree. But, finding for those who willing to against this giants is troublesome as not many will take part in this kind of march.
This is also a problem in Thailand rural districts. This especially happens when its raining, and it does that a lot in the raining season. Could the problem be that no cables are putted in the ground?
I have no idea why it happens. But, in most of the 3rd word countries, this is the main problem we face.
Nail on head – redundancy is critical for any online business. Downtime costs money.
I guess this is the main reason why 3rd world country is still in the same category for years.
If my wi-fi is too slow I usualy use my cellphone to update my blog. It’s a bit more complicated and it takes more time but I’d rather deal with uncomfortable keys than waiting 5+ minutes for one site to load.
You must be lucky to have an option there where not many will have it.
It’s troublesome indeed… the connection seems to recover this morning though.
Yeah. It looks better now. Hope it will stay this way. But, when it comes to streamyx, nothing is always right.
it seems that this problem is prevalent only to third world countries like ours. it is because majority of the internet service is not that mature in that kind of industry yet.
I think it is common in 3rd world countries. No wonder we don’t see many probloggers in these countries.
Couldn’t agree more!
Thanks Grog
and another problem atniz is if you have no choice but to use the only service that is available in your area which is my case. I want an internet service from another company but since it is not available in my place, I can’t do anything about it but to stay to what is only available.
The only way to avoid this is by shifting to new area.
