First of all, what is bounce rate?
“Bounce Rate = Single Page Access/ Entries.
A bounce occurs when a web site visitor leaves a page or a site without visiting any other pages before a specified session-timeout occurs.” Source – Wikipedia
How To Find Out Your Site’s Bounce Rate?
Install Google Analytics in your blog or website. It helps you to get your bounce rate by daily, weekly, monthly or from any specific date duration. You can also learn how much traffic referred from search engine to your site. It helps to improve our SEO.
How To Reduce Bounce Rate?
Only one rule. Make our visitor to click at least one page in our blog before they leave.
1. Install “Related Post” plugin
If your visitor arrived from search engine, surely they have been referred for certain keywords in your post. Related post plugin helps to identify related post by analyzing the keyword in the post and list it right below your post.
2. Ask question from the visitors
Always end your post with a question. This will make them participate in blog by commenting.
Well, this are only two that I have applied so far. What are your method?

Remember to use deep link as well.. lotsa people neglect this man!
Yeah. I think related post plugin helps to get deep links that is related to our post from our blog itself.
is there any negative effect of Bounce Rate over the site???
Of course!
The higher the bounce rate, the lower it’s value.
Thanks for the tips on using Analytics. For me I have been tweaking my front page my objective being to reduce bounce rate. I want to achieve this by letting the reader know that he might still find other interesting stuff in my blog and since he already dropped by, he might as well look around.
It’s good to have a poll system to reduce the rate. But, make sure the polling redirect to a new page. Static page won’t make any difference.
These methods will not help with your regular subscribers who visit only to read the latest post and close their browser once they are thru the latest post! All of your subscribers will neither comment! How to deal with that? What do you have to say about this? Blogs have 75-90% bounce rates. How do you reduce that? You didn’t reveal your bounce rate by the way!
Having a related post plugin can help. RSS readers will get latest post with related post in their reader or email. I have reduced bounce rate from 93% to 82% in 2 weeks time following above method. If you have any good ideas, please share.
Hey there. I haven’t tried any of these methods as of yet, but I like the ask a question at the end of a post. It should help engage in conversations with your readers.
Yes, it is the idea from Entrecard blog. Hope you can try other methods and monitor the results in google analytic.
Always helpful as usual.
Thanks
Thanks for dropping by.
I agree with the “read more” technique. Also, making post images clickable and pointing the click to a new window where the image is hosted (inside a well-formed html page) will reduce bounce rate.
Clicking on the image that is pointed in new window where the image is hosted is a good idea. Thanks for sharing this tips.
Bounce rate seems to be a thing that most bloggers using Entrecard will get, as the majority of EntreCard users do a “drop and run” technique to try and get more drops, I personally like to read a blogs posts before dropping, I think using a “read more” option on the from of your blog is a good idea to entice the visitors to read the blog entry in full.
Even though we have “read more” option, hit and run visitors will only go for golden drop button and run away from our blog. If we have attractive or controversial photo, video, or title, it might hold them back. One of my blog have 92% bounce rate. I tried pulling a few photos and youtube videos, the rate dropped to 82% in a week time. Hope you can try it too.
