Proxy site is the site that allows you to surf any url that is blocked by ISP or IP. Most of the users of proxy search sites are from colleges, university, workplace, schools, etc. Why Proxy sites become so famous in such a short period of time? If you do simple maths of world population, we might get that almost one third of human beings are still schooling or studying at higher education centers. This age group people are the most active Internet users and have a lot of time surfing and socializing.
Universities and colleges have huge array of broadband services that connects them to Internet. What makes it worse is that they have bigger crowd of students that will maximize the bandwidth limit with all sort of social activities. Imagine of 10,000 students downloading youtube video at the same time. They might have used all bandwidth limits just for youtube. This is why, most of the colleges and universities blocked youtube in their network.
This is just an example of the site that blocked. Commonly, Friendster, Myspace, Facebook, Hi5, Youtube, and other social networking sites will be blocked too. So, this eagerly students need to go to Internet café and fork out some money to gain access to these sites. Not all are using Internet café to surf these sites. Thanks to proxy sites, that allows these students to surf all the sites using their campus broadband services. Proxy will act as a platform that will surf other sites from it. It is just like; you are using a Mask (Proxy) to surf Myspace, Youtube, etc without letting others know your identity.
Proxy sites help these students to stay connected with their friends and family members using any social networking sites. In some workplace, their ISP might be set not to visit any chatting sites or social networking sites. Proxy sites will help them gain access to it. The only problem with Proxy sites are the security. Some scammers are running proxy sites to get username and password to sensitive sites like E-Gold, Paypal, and other payment processors sites. Anything you type in proxy sites might be monitored and used illegally against you. So, you need to be extra careful and don’t leak out any personal details of highly sensitive sites that will cause you to lose money.
