Most of us don’t bother about search engine traffic anymore these days since the existence of social networking services like Myspace, Friendster, Facebook, Digg, Stumbleupon, Yahoo Buzz, Entrecard, Blogcatalog, Mybloglog, etc. Of course, the traffic at social networks sites rules the world of Internet. If a webmaster who don’t utilize this social traffic to their clients, then he or she might face a lot of hardship to achieve their target traffic that they need to provide to their customer.
Getting a decent amount of traffic from social networks is easy. With Entrecard itself, some are getting more than 500 visits a day. We are not talking about other methods like Buzz, Digg, Facebook, etc here. If anyone can utilize all the social network section, they might even get Alexa 4 figure ranking. But, maintaining a good response with other social network sites take a lot of time. We need to add more friends, increase our visibility and take part in various networking sections.
At the end, we might fully depend on this traffic and totally forget about search engine traffic. Search engine traffic brings in more targeted traffic compared to social networking traffics. People are looking for some “keywords” in search engine a will dig deeper until they get the answer they want. This is the potential traffic for our business. So, if you are looking for serious traffic and good buyers for your website, you need to look in to SEO (Search engine optimization) for your business.
There are so many ways to bring up our site in top 10 or top 3 ranking in search results. But, getting this top spot is not an easy task. It might take a lot of time for continuous SEO methods to push our link up in the search engine results. For example, if your website is selling “watch”, there are 24+ million searches done in October 2008 on this keyword in google. Imagine of getting the top 3 spots for this keyword, your website might be getting hundreds of thousands visits each day. No other social networks can get you this traffic.
Hope you are clear about the importance of SEO for your business website or blog. Having a million dollar website with 10 years of advance technology applied in your website programs for your visitors, but you have not done any SEO for it, then this million dollar website investment might be equivalent to dead a site. Of course, nobody wants that to happen for their investment. If you are not making any good visitors, customers or money from your website, then it is better to start your SEO engine for it.

Thanks for the tip
that is true, better is the search engine traffic than from social network sites…
first of all, a really nice article especially interesting for people who run a commercial website.
On personal websites (even when they are selling stuff) I think people tend to spend way too much energy in getting more traffic instead of putting interesting content. It seems so obvious maar I think a lot of bloggers for get that sometime.

Hi!
Atniz i agree with u seo is most important thing for our blogs
I couldn’t agree more! This is also one of the most difficult points to explain to a client when talking about SEO, particularly if they are new to online marketing. It’s not always the highest traffic keywords that will gain the most sales.
Hello,
I have been of late possessed by the issues you have posted in the last three-four articles here. I have managed to improve my Alexa ranking fairly sharply within a short period but not such luck with Google. I have been employing multiple SEO tools at the same time as being active on major social network sites. My success at getting back links has been low though I have campaigned though sticky post/badge about Do Follow as well as seriously commenting freely at good value sites. In fact my current post ‘Tribulations of an EVolving Blogger’ has an honest detailing tinged with humor but seriously, I’ve outlined major concerns. Will be delighted if you check it out and record some impressions.
Quite a few posts here of real good value. Will pick up all suggestions of value. Thanks.
