Page rank does not play any role in search engine results.
This is a controversial topic as some still believe boldly that google page rank will help them to get top spot in google search results. If you still believe this, please check again practically. Go to Google.com and search any keyword. Open first 10 results that appear and compare it from first rank to tenth rank.
So, for those who is hunting for page rank to secure good spot in search engine position, wake up now! Page rank represents the number of dofollow backlinks that refers to particular url have over the Internet. The higher page rank represents the higher backlinks the site referred. It does not contribute to search results.
Search results works with keyword. Any keyword searched from search engine will check the sites with the particular keyword in density. The higher dense on keyword will have better position in search results. So, if you are targeting for certain keywords, check keywordtool for more details on the keyword:
- Related keywords
- Advertisers competition
- Approximate search volume in last month
- Approximate search volume in average
- Estimated ad position
- Estimated average CPC
- Search volume trends
- Highest search volume occurred in which month
Utilize your keywords according to your need. Some sites only depends on search engine traffic and gets thousands of visitors each day. Search engine traffic is huge and if you can get top 3 ranking in one highly searched keyword, I’m sure you will get at least thousands of visitors each day just from search engine.

Strange things keywords, I know that when I type in Remergence in Google, which is my artist name it comes up top of the list, but this may be the fact that it’s unusual word, at one time typing in electronica music would also bring me to the top of the list, until Google decided to totally wipe out my previous pagerank from 6 down to 0.

Do one more thing, Make two IDENTICAL sites with same content. Just put one condition, let any one of them have high PR and then see the ranking in Search engines.

Ok I would just like to give my thoughts on this I think that for any particular keyword PR is not so important but to get ranked for a bunch of keywords I think PR is important but there are alot more factors of course then PR but PR is one important pieace to the puzzle
Lets say you are looking to get ranked in the top searchs for the word Cash Money I that if there are two sites
www. cashmoney .com
and
www. cash-money .com
and lets say they are both 2 years old and they have the same keyword density, and the same amount of inbound links from aproximatly the same types of sites. I think in this situation the one with the higher PR will get crawled a little more and be considered a little more of an authority and will ranking higher then the other but again I think PR is only part of the puzzle
Lets say site A has a PR of 8
Site b has pr 1
but site b is ranked number 1 in google and site a is number 8
That can be because site b is more focused on the particular keyword you just searched and on site A that keyword was only menctioned
So PR gives it a boost on a search that it probably has nothing to do with but still gets traffic for these particular keywords just because they were mentcioned on this high ranking site that gets crawled a gazillion times a day

There are lots of factors which play the important role in search engine result but i think page rank is the important factor which play the most important role in search engine result.

Pagerank is from google and I think it may have some effect. But, from what Matt Cutts said, it does not. Anyway, it is for you and me to find out on trial basis.
