Tagging And Award SystemHave you heard about tags game before? There will be a small story or QA section on top of the post and previous bloggers links that have played this game at the bottom of the post. You can take part of this game and list your link at the bottom or top of the list and hope that your friends or visitors will do the same. This way, you can get backlinks from their post. The chain goes on with one goal in mind that is to get higher backlinks.

Why you need so many links back to you? Simply, you need to raise your Google Page Rank and link popularity throughout WWW. Does it really work? Page rank improves when you have many backlinks from higher page rank to you but decreases when you link too many lower PR sites from your blog. So, if you are playing tag game, make sure you are one of the pioneers who play the game at the beginning where you don’t have to link out many links.

As you can see the award game also work almost same. Once you receive an award, you need to link to 5 other bloggers. So, they can link back to you while talk about this award. The truth of all these games, awards, etc it to get backlinks. There are so many ways to get backlinks instead of Awards and Tagging.

Again, this is what I learned from Google Webmaster tools about page rank and compare to tagging games and award games that is happening around us now. If you have any opinion about this, please share.

I used to be such a sucker for tags, memes and the like. It was just a few months ago that I found a website claiming to help ‘eradicate’ the world’s (or at least the net’s) view of Filipinas and sex scandals. After a little research I found out that that website, or rather the owner, was merely trying to boost his technorati rankings. I was so furious and wrote something against it instead. Well, not against the website but against their cause……

And even though I still gladly accept awards, I don’t take them too seriously anymore. As for tags, I prefer ‘stealing’ them instead….

I have multiple blogs but I can’t do all the tags anymore. What I did now is everytime I made an update in each blog, I also link all my blogs, in that way I can get backlinks.

About google page ranking, for me it’s not accurate. Just think of it, I have one blog that I didn’t blog hop much and it’s also 3 months old young. Now, how come google gave me a PR of 4? Here’s another one, I didn’t monetize my raqmitch.com blog, the PR was 4 and now down to PR2.

Btw, nice post…very interesting. I like your topic in your blog.

I don’t do the tags, but I do like doing the awards. They are given to me with good intentions, and I most certainly pass them on with good intentions of what they are for – not for the links. Thanks for stopping by my 2 blogs and taking the time to comment.

    Take Care!

I agree with you, if you link to lower page rank sites, you will be lower page rank, I personally don’t participate in the tag games because my site is more an information site and not really personal. I would like to have more links but I think I will get them some other way.

  7. Thank you for sharing this information. Ultimately. bloggers need and want readers, and so any marketing strategy that does not directly or intentionally hurt others is acceptable to me. Whether bloggers choose to participate in a tag game, a meme or an award ring or not is up to each individual blogger and their ultimate goals. It is good to understand how the process works and who it benefits, especially if you are a new and therefore naive blogger.

thanks for stopping by my blog and your well wishes on my vacation. i enjoy all the information you give in your blog…it has helped me quite a bit!

  9. Backlinks are everything any more. He had they may help you in your Google site rankings but Google and other search engines will probably not bring you the most traffic. If I were you guys I would just worry about commenting as much as possible so that other readers get an idea of what they are going to get from you.
