Have you noticed your Alexa ranking recently? They are using new Alexa method to calculate our traffic rankings. My Entrecard inbox drops increased recently from 250 – 300+ drops everyday. Any site with 250 – 300 visits per day will surely be in below 300k Alexa ranking. But, my weekly ranking dropped to below 400k.
Previously, when I use to have 150 – 180 drops a day, my weekly Alexa ranking stands at 150k+. Now with more than 300 drops a day, it is below 400k. The difference is a lot and it is dropping every single day. Is it because Alexa don’t recognize Entrecard traffic anymore? About 70 – 80% of my traffic is coming from Entrecard and if Alexa don’t recognize Entrecard, then this could be the reason why my ranking drops.
So, stop using Entrecard if you don’t want your Alexa ranking to drop. Personally, I don’t give a xxxx to Alexa anymore already. As long as my site gets traffic of 1000 visits per day, I’m very happy. I’m going to stick with Entrecard and stop checking Alexa ranking anymore. Maybe, it is time to concentrate on Technoratti, Page rank, Compete and other rankings.
It is good to utilize other traffic generating channels than concentrating Entrecard alone. Right now, I’m going to utilize my Technoratti, Blogcatalog, Twitter and Myspace to get more traffic. Hopefully, by end of July each of my main blog can get more than 1,000. Sooner, by end of this month, I’m going to kick off another three more new blogs
1. Womens, Baby, Mother, Recipe blog
3. Online & Offline Business entrepreneur blog
Got more blogs mean more responsibilities and time that we should spend. I have planned 3 months for these 3 blogs. I want to make all 5 blog with good traffic ranking and contents. Hopefully, it will get good support as what I get for my current two blogs.

I’ve been reading a lot on Google Page rank as well. It too is being devalued significantly. There is a group in Toronto that has been working on a more accurate methodology for ranking blogs and web sites. I haven’t cared for a long time over rankings. My bread and butter is based solely on unique visitors per day/week/month…

Imagine of getting 500 visits a day and it is counted in Alexa. Most probably your Alexa rank will be lower than 30k.

I don’t mind if my Alexa doesn’t drop at all. The most important things is that you have a lot of visitor. By the way about the photos on my blog. There some photos that I usually edit “like the exposure” because I couldn’t get it right sometimes. One of the photos I just posted was edited “the 2nd photo” using CS3. i like organic traffic.. and ranks does matter if your in to menotizing your blogs
alexa’s been really good to my 3 blogs since i joined entrecard, all are below 200K.

i don thnk Alexa and Entrecard has interlated and rely on each other so much…i have maintained my ranking with <300,000 or sometimes mayb more than 300,000 a bit but still less than 310,000 with my daily visitor only 50-60 only..
I decided that Alexa was crap when I realized that it doesn’t take the traffic rankings of subdomains as separate from the parent domain. So even though one of my blogs gets more traffic than another Alexa doesn’t reflect this and just bundles them all together.

We should actually care less about Alexa but most of the advertisers out there still refer to Alexa to price our advert slots. I think, there is no other way than try to keep increase the rate.

Yeah, it is all about their new system. If we can generate another new fresh 300 visits per day just like Entrecard from commenting, digg, stumble, etc maybe we can see some difference. This could add another 300 visits to our blog at the end of the day and gives a total of 600 visits a day to our blog. Overall, we are still gaining, just need to spend a lot of time.
After upgrade to new version, maybe Alexa trying to make more such services!
